Hello, my cat Mavis has this strange whisker growing out of her cheek (not her muzzle), but its incredibly short, about the same length of her fur and shes a short haired cat. Its a little thicker than the whiskers on her muzzle and hasnt grown in the five or six months that ive noticed it. Now, its split at the very tip, like a split hair on a human.
Should I pluck out this whisker? Is it even a whisker? And no, shes not burned it off on anything, its just strangely short.
Thank you so much for your help :)

No, DON'T pluck it out. This is a different type of whisker, and my cats have this as well. Pulling it out would hurt your cat.

Like said above don't pluck but you could trim. My kitty got too close to a flame and his whispers got frizzed like burned hair would. I waited a bit for it to grow out and when he was sleepy I would trim off the frizzed bit. I did this over time just to not leave him with super short whiskers and stuff...so you could try trimming. No reason to get rid of it from what I can tell though :)

my cats get split ends on their whiskers from time to time. Just like humans, they do get split ends. I'd leave it alone
