NoahBoy is only 6 years old and weighs 18 lbs. he has Stomatitus (red gums) and constipated.   We're from NY moved to Florida  4 years ago.  Normally in NY Vets perform dental work for Stomatitus.  Brought Noah to the Vet on Friday March 10, 2017 and the Vet gave him Depo-Medrol injection and Convenia injection. He also checked his fecal for parasites which is negative.  He defacated yesterday but was screaming because he was constipated and some got stuck which I helped get out.  Brought him back to the Vet yesterday 8am checked his colon empty.  He put him on Lactolus 1 ml 3 x a day and I gave it to him again today.  Still nothing. What do I do???  Bring him back in, find another Vet, buy Punkin Puree.  Please help!   This is not New York it's Floridahhhh :-(

If you don't feel comfortable with the vets response, there's no problem with getting a second opinion.

I recently urged my girlfriend to see another vet regarding her sweet dog after they made her feel like she being dramatic.  As it turned out, the poor boys teeth had to be pulled and were very infected.

Nothing wrong with trusting your gut.

I have mixed a table spoon of Gerber baby food, chicken, ham, beef and/or turkey with a tablespoon of Libby's 100% pumpkin and it worked.  I found that the pumpkin alone worked the opposite.

Also, add a bit of warm water to it to get more liquid inside the belly.

Is NoahBoy drinking enough.

Also, what food(s) do you have him on?  Sometimes that makes a difference.

Please keep us updated.

Welcome to TCS - I'm sure others will chime in with valuable information and advice for you and your sweet boy

Thank you for responding.  Noah is drinking a lot of water from the kitchen sink faucet. He never did that in NY it must be a Florida thing.   He is urinating.  I will try your recipe with the baby food and 100% Pumpkin Puree.  He is eating Fancy Feast wet food but mostly Fancy Feast dry food.  He also loves the Temptation treats.  He does look depressed.  I wonder if it's the Convenia Injection that he got on Friday which is a two week acting anti-biotic.  He stopped chasing my female calico too.  I'm worried I might bring him to another Vet,  but that means more money.

I suppose if in NY you had city water vs well, it is different, Florida definitely has different water.

My boy loved drinking from the faucets.  However looking back it was because his mouth was sensitive.

I would try and get him to eat more wet than the dry.  I fed mine a medicated all dry diet and he had many issues, crystals being one of them.

It doesn't hurt to call surrounding vets and inquire as to how much, or perhaps local shelters may know of doctors who treat at low cost.

Please keep us posted.

Best to you and Noah.

From the two injections he got on Friday when does the red gums go away?  Is that what's making him constipated:  Depo-Medrol and the Convenia Injections?  Looking for answers before I start spending more money on different Vets.  Thank you.

At best the steroid shot is probably a short term help for the stomatitis, most cases requires dental extractions, either partial or full mouth.
