Am I Feeding Her Right?

I've been feeding my cat (she's about 4 years old, and was 9lbs at the vet last month after recovering from tapeworms) a mixture of wet and dry food. I have Sheba Perfect Portions (1.3oz), which she eats about half of in the morning and the rest at night (I put it in the fridge between feedings and reheat when needed).

To supplement this, I let her free feed on dry food, which I admit i haven't kept as close of an eye on specific amounts, but I would say she eats a cup per day at most. Right now she's getting a mixture of Purina One Indoor Advantage (her food from her foster home) and Simply Nourish Grain-Free, which I am almost done transitioning her to.

Should I be feeding her less? I wish I could feed her more wet food, but since she only eats a little at a time and I am gone to work all day, it's not really feasible for me to increase the amount of wet food she gets per day.

I feed my 8 lb girl half a small can at 6a and then another half at 4:30 - 5p when I get home. That long space doesn't seem to be a problem. I then feed her another half can at 10p and she gets 1/8 cup dry at 2:15a from the automatic feeder. Oddly, if she doesn't get that night feeding she often throws up bile some time before 6a. I would love not to feed her dry, but my automatic feeder doesn't dispense wet.

I would measure the amount of dry food you feed to see how much she is really eating. a full cup, like someone else said, is A LOT of calories, especially for an adult. Is she very active? I am out of the house for over 9 hours a day during the week for work, and I feed a 50/50 wet dry combo. She gets her quarter cup of dry in the morning and then when I get home she gets half of a 3 oz can of wet for dinner, and then another half a can before I go to bed. She doesn't usually finish it all at once but she likes to graze through the evening and night on it. Wet food can be left out for a long time and still be fine, although in pate form, the consistency seems to change quicker which some cats don't like.  My cat prefers shreds/chunks so it works out fine for her that way

Is your kitty gaining weight or losing weight while eating a lot? And did she always eat that much or is that more recent?

I put out one cup of dry food per day for four cats (in addition to the wet food they get) so yeah, I'd say a cup of dry per day for one cat is definitely a lot!
