Just curious how often you see your cats at their water dish? I've switched my kitten (almost 6 months now) to a canned/raw diet..and in about 3 days (Im almost out of cans) she will be 100% raw. Since I've stopped feeding kibble ..which has probably been at least a month. I don't see her drinking.
Yes, I add a generous amount of water to her wet food and her raw.. but I'm curious if any one who feeds similarly has noticed water habits?
I may start to measure the water I'm actually adding so I have more of an accurate amount... what would be an average number?
I'm guessing she gets at least about 3 tbs per meal (@ 3 meals a day)..
Jessie is perfectly healthy. She just got spayed a week and a half ago, and there was no concerns from the vet. Just asking out of curiosity :D

If a cat is on wet food, especially if extra water is added, then you will probably not see your cat at the water bowl. They are getting all the water they need from the food.

If you feed dry, then you will notice the water going down in the bowl.

Your kitty sounds perfectly healthy to me!!  Congrats!!

Gizmo is just about 6 months too and the only time I see him near his water dish is when he's smacking a paw into it and making a mess! But he's on an exclusively wet food diet that I, too, add water into.

Enjoy your baby!!

I've seen my cat drink from the water bowl a total of two times this past year, and even less before that. ;-)

It was rather unnerving when we had to switch Buddy to a completely wet diet, as we were used to seeing him drink from his water bowl several times a day.  My fears were alleviated when I finally realized that his urine output was even better than before.  Thank goodness for clumping litter to provide a basis for comparison!

Haha yes! I have also noticed more urine in the box. That's also why I'm not too concerned. There was a definite increase when kibble stopped

I think I see my tux at the water fountain the least. His raw is not as watered down as my blue. My blue has been in a cone for weeks so he hasn't been able to use the water fountain. I've been supplementing his raw with bone broth, blood, and water. As long as he keeps peeing after his surgery, we're doing well.
The girls use the living room  fountain every day and they eat dry.

My kitten uses the water dish as a finger bowl to rinse her paws off after she uses the cat box.  I usually find 1-2 pieces of dissolved cat litter in the bowl.  Haven't ever seen her drink out of it.

My senior cat drinks maybe a quarter cup a day of extra water, if that much.  His urine output could fill up a lake after a bad drought.

They are also raw fed, plus extra water added to the food.

When I adopted my cat she was on free feed dry with supposedly some wet. When I got her home I knew she was switching to all wet, which I did in about a week. At first I'd see her at the water bowl a couple times an evening. Since she switched, and I do add water to the wet, I have never seen her drink out of the bowl. However, I continue to give her fresh water, morning and night.
