OK for the longest time there has been a male orange tiger stripe cat hanging around our apartment building. For the longest time, this cat would not come near me or my fiance. He acted like he wanted to, but when we approached he ran away, or if we got close enough, hissed at us.

Then, a couple of days ago, my fiance and I were outside getting ready to leave for Walmart and there was the cat coming toward us. So, on an impulse I said; "Pretty kitty kitty" and held out my arms...and when I did he jumped right up into them and started purring up a storm! I wonder what changed his mind?

LOL! You just never know with cats! They have very independent thoughts about "life," and, over time, they come to trust you. You can never know whether that's going to be in a few days, a few weeks, a few months - or a few years.

Are you SURE it's the same cat? We've had several cases of mistaken identity! That's not unusual either.

But I am surprised he jumped into your arms! Usually it starts with a headbump to your leg. But obviously he's decided you're OK in his book, and all we can do is smile and be happy. As far as I'm concerned, the mind of a cat is a mysterious thing, and that's part of why they're so magical for me!

I'm sure its the same cat...he has a scar in his eye that makes him very distinguishable.
It was soooo cute when he jumped into my arms! It was like he was saying; "I'm sorry for being scared. I love you!!"

Maybe next time he does that...you can put him in a carrier and take him to the vet to be neutered.
