Hello! I decided to take all of your advice and decided to spay my cat. So doodles just gave birth to a litter of 5 cats and this is her second litter and they are all fine and healthy but i want to spay her. So can anyone tell me the requirements for spaying? Also the doctor in my city is not so experienced and i think he has rarely done spaying/neutering so in case this goes sideways..... are there any sude effects???

Thanks a lot!

Cats can be spayed 8 weeks after giving birth. You should use a vet who is experienced. Generally, there are no side effects from spaying.

Where are you located?  Are you in the US?

Can it be done after 8 weeks when the kittens grow up right? There is no exact time period to follow?

You must wait 8 weeks after the mom gives birth to spay her. The kittens can also be done at 8 weeks or 2 pounds. You must keep the mom inside and away from males until she is spayed or she can easily get pregnant again.

Nope. Pakistan, hyderabad
I hope you can find a good vet that does have some experience.  I had a friend who lived abroad for quite a while who could not find a vet anywhere that believed in sterilizing an animal, so hopefully at least the vet you have at least has been trained in the procedure.  Best of luck to you, I'm so happy you want to spay her.

Good for you for taking care of your girl! Make sure you are comfortable with the vet.

Thanks a lot! My mom will talk to the vet. He is a surgeon but i dont trust the vets in my city. Lets hope it all turns out alright.

Also just in case, he does something wrong, there is no life threatening situation right? I will try it with doodles first and try later on rest of my babies.

Also may i know how much it costs in US? It is too cheap here. If i convert it, it is 20 dollars. Thankyou [emoji]127773[/emoji][emoji]127773[/emoji]

A friend of mine just had one of her cats spayed for $75 USD.  My last one had some other health issues and had to stay for 4 nights, and it cost me over $300, but that was due to other treatments they did on her.  The actual spay portion, if she had been otherwise healthy, was only going to be $80.

My four kittens cost $20 each for spay/neuter under a Humane Society kitten special. However, the mother cat, who I took in as a pregnant stray, cost about $300 at my private vet. That included shots and other services. I also paid extra for kitten shots and worm and flea meds. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
