Ok, I know all cats are obsessed with food. But Claws' love of it seems to be growing.

Originally I could leave kibble out all day and he'd graze that while eating wet food when it was set down. That was ages ago, though. Now he eats everything the second I put it down so he gets his two meals and a snack a day and that's it. He'd start bugging me an hour before mealtime and that was fine, I know his stomach was telling him it's time for dinner.

However, now I can't even go in the kitchen without being hounded for food. He ate his bedtime snack last night and while I did dishes, sat next to his food bowl for 20 minutes acting like he hadn't literally just been fed. I'm used to cats begging, but right after he eats? Is this normal?

My mom's cat has been hounding her for food constantly and he came back as needing an adjustment in thyroid medication. Claws, however, is only about 3 years old and his last vet checkup (December?) showed no thyroid issues. Basically I'm deciding whether he's being a tricky fart or there could be something wrong.

Was he specifically tested for Thyroid levels? The behavior change you describe is very common in kitties with Thryroid imbalances.

My late Zoya behaved just liked that, after a life of never minding food very much. She got tested and confirmed that her thryroid was completely out of wack.

It doesn't take long for thyroid problems to develop. I would start with a check of the thyroid to make sure something hasn't developed since the last appointment (or just wasn't as developed at that point).

If that is not the issue, it could be a stress type reaction or boredom.
