I am mostly cat person, but I do foster dogs. I love dogs as well and believe they have alot to offer people and society. About 6 months ago I had a wonderful foster sheltie. He has SOOOOOO SKIDDISH I had never seen anything like it in my life. I can compare him to a feral cat easily. After months he was finally somewhat socialized and we had bonded BIGTIME. I've had 50+ fosters and he was like my own dog. No other foster affected me the way he did, I cannot explain why. We slept together on the couch, he was mostly housetrained, and he even learned to walk on a leash. It was time for him to go to his forever home.... as I took him to adoptions and left he cried and tried to get out of his pen. But Ithought "he'll be much better in the home he's going to" ... he was goin gto a single woman with no other animals... while here we were always on the go, have 9 cats and a crazy poodle.. i thought he'd be happier.

Right away he got out of her fence and was never seen again, until today. He was killed by a car 70 miles from his new owners home. Traced back by a microchip. I wanted his body but Animal Control had already picked him up.
I only hope there REALLY is a rainbow bridge and we meet again. Anyway, thanks for listening.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is a Rainbow Bridge and it has everything an animal would wish to have except for the addition of the human that loved him or her and added that special touch. Once we cross over, I believe our laps will be teeming with cats, our legs will be licked repeatedly by dogs, and our shoulders sore from the head bumping of horses and other animals that have fallen into our care over the years. Heaven would not be complete without animals, it just isn't possible.

I am sorry for the loss of your foster dog- I hope your healing journey begins soon-

thanks --

Actually hissy I am somewhat relieved as sick as that sounds. It's been SIX MONTHS no word. I was so afraid he had ended up in a bad situation with a homeless person or had been hurt by other dogs.

I understand your sadness and even the twinge of relief that you must now feel. It will always hurt to lose a friend and it seems thatâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s what this sheltie was too you. Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m so sorry for your loss. May you meet again someday.

Srry to hear about your dear foster baby.

He's at the RB no doubt, healthy and happy. He will remember you and how you helped him when he needed it.

RIP
.
