A little background: My cat is 14 years old and is in great health. Luckily he has never had any major illnesses or health issues. He eats mostly canned food which I feed him morning and evening. I do however like to leave out dry food while I am away at work so he has something to snack on. He is not an over-eater and is not overweight at all. He LOVES his canned food so he really only eats the dry if hes hungry in between feedings.
Anyways, from the selection available at my local pet store, the best fish-free dry cat food seems to be (in my opinion) Merrick purrfect bistro grain free chicken. The best food that has fish in it seems to be (again, in my opinion) Orijen cat &kitten. The orijen appears to have an overall higher quality ingredient list, but contains a fair amount of fish, which I generally try to avoid. Merrick on the other hand, though still a high quality dry ingredient list, is a little less dazzling than the Orijen. But contains only poultry, which I prefer.
So is one food better than the other? Would the fish content in the Orijen make it lesser than Merrick? Or Equal? Or would it still be considered better?
I would love some thoughts/opinions!
