Hello All,

I'm new to the site and have a question about a newly adopted kitty from the shelter, "Goose."

He is an inside-outside cat that mainly stays in our yard and lounges in the sun.

A couple months ago I noticed these spots under his ears. They are flush with the skin and don't look irritated. He doesn't seem bothered by them or by me touching them.

The closest information online I found was this article:http://www.dogscatspets.org/dogs/do...ching-hair-loss-crusty-skin-causes-treatment/

It states, "The dog in this picture has somewhat black spots that are flush (on the same level) with its skin, with no signs of swelling, crusting, and fluid. They are likely the result of hyper-pigmentation from exposure to the sun."

But the article is in relation to dogs, so I wanted to come and get some expert kitty input.

Here are some images:

What do y'all think?

Kitty freckles sounds about right for what you are seeing. A lack of redness or raising indicates it is not an infection. Not scratching means there is no discomfort. I'd keep an eye on them and if they get red, raised, a crust builds up or bother they him take him in just for those to be checked.

A quick check with your vet at your next appointment might set your mind at ease.

Thank you for the reply!

Since I noticed these freckles, I've been giving him a once over and I found this spot.

The hair was groomed away from the spot. (Maybe grooming?) Again, I touched it, but didn't find anything raised. Just this exposed dark spot.

Any ideas?

P.S. I will take him in to the vet.

Hello and Welcome.

Both my kitties had various colors on their skin but it was just the color of their skin.

If you are concerned however, it's always best to go to the vets.

How is he otherwise?

Please keep us updated.  And please post more pictures, I'd love to his eyes.

Best to you both.

Could be some sort of allergic reaction to maybe a flea bite or something.

He doesn't seem to be too concerned, but I'll keep an eye on the spot.

Thank you for your replies!
