Personally I choose Frriskies pate, and usually prefer the Poultry Platter because it's the only one with TURKEY as the No. 1 ingredient, but the Mixed Grill is the only one with NO FISH.  I believe the Friskies pate is the lowest in carbohydrates (important for urinary pH) and all the protein in it is ANIMAL protein, not vegetable protein, i.e. it does not have any of the now popular additives such as peas, soy, wheat gluten, barley, potato starch, potato protein, carrots, etc.  It does have one grain, RICE, and it's pretty far down the list.  Rice is not one of the grains cats are generally allergic to, and the carb count per serving is about 3.  I avoid everything with "gravy" or "broth" because they have added starches.  I don't remember what 4Health 13 oz. cans have in them, but I do remember they had something that was on my not acceptable list.  I've been feeding Friskies for years and it's an affordable and healthy option for the number of cats I feed.  Not everyone can afford Weruva Fowl Ball (my FLUTD cat gets this, but if she gets into the Friskies, she still doesn't produce alkaline urine.)

In the grain free 4Health 5.5 oz cans, how much starch does the potato starch add to the finished product? My cats go absolutely wild over the grain free chicken dinner with gravy. It's their favorite.

Other than calling the manufacturer, the company that actually produces the food for TSC, I'm not sure.  What you could do is compare the caloriesto the grain free chicken dinner WITHOUT gravy or broth, and if all other ingredients are the same, you might be able to get an idea.  However, if there are other differences, you won't see it.  Pet foods still don't list carbs, although they will someday.

The Prescription Diet pet foods are mostly very high carb, which is unfortunate.

They don't have a chicken dinner without gravy in the 5.5 oz cans. I think that the closest thing they have is the chicken and whitefish pate and I don't buy that one very often, because of the fish.

I'm not too worried about it anyway, as it seems to be a good food and the potato starch is the only starch ingredient, if I remember right.

By the way, thanks for the input on the Friskies. It sounds like you have a lot of experience with it!

I might rotate in some Friskies for my healthy cats.

If I remember correctly, the regular 4Health is very high in carbs. I don't know about the new grain-free flavors though. But those don't come in the 13-oz can anyway.

I mosty feed Friskies. I only use Turkey & Giblets, Poultry Platter, and Mixed Grill. Because those are 5he ones that come in the 13-oz cans, lol.

I might end up purchasing a variety pack of Friskies pates in the 5.5 oz cans. The price per ounce is nearly the same as the 13 ounce ones and that eliminates the need for refrigeration, since my two younger cats split a 5.5 oz can between them for each feeding.
