I'm looking for suggestions on how I can help Hecate out. She's flaky... and it's a recent development. I read online that fish oil supplements could help, but she's always had bad reactions to varying degrees with fish products, from sneezing to wheezing, and that can't be ignored... What can I do to help deal with the flakes? She doesn't appear to be bothered much by them, (i.e. no overgrooming). Should I just get some better cat food and see if it just goes away on it's own?

Where do you think?
Is the air in your house dry? Maybe you need a humidifier.

What food do you feed her? If it's got corn or chicken she might be allergic.

She's never had any issues with chicken or corn before... just with fish and seafood... again, the wheezing and sneezing... she only does that with fish and especially shellfish... I'd hate to have to find her a protein if she's allergic to chicken AND fish...

The most common allergens are chicken and corn. Corn actually has no place in a cat's diet they can't digest it. My Hector who was allergic to chicken and corn was put on Primal Pheasant and her reaction went away.

I would have to ask if she's overweight.
Tommy used to have bad dandruff. I would end up shaving his back half every year to try to get it loose.
Then I had him lose 5 lbs. it was really clearing up.
Now he's lost another 3 and we're done dieting.
He was having trouble grooming.

Yours may not be the case but I notice it hasn't been brought up.
