Hello. Looking for baby kittens 4-8 weeks. Girls, two sisters. Similar to my cat in the profile, I don't know what breed was my cat. I live in Colorado, Denver. Thank you

Unless there is some overshadowing reason (Mom died or abandoned) kittens should not be separated from their mothers before 8 weeks old and ideally not until 12 weeks old. There are variety of health and behavioral reasons for this and there are several threads on the topic.

Agreed. Also, I'm sorry for the loss of your cat, but it sounds like you are trying to find a direct replacement. You would be better off falling in love with the personality of new kittens who are ready to leave their mom.

We explained to you in your first thread why taking a kitten from mom at such a young age is damaging to them. It is simply not in their best interest.

@Anushik we did let you know in your first thread that ideally kittens should stay with their mothers until they are 12 weeks old.  There are really good reasons for this.. @Norachan gave some of them in her post in your other thread and the site owner, @Anne, has written an excellent article about it.

[article="33404"]How Old Do Kittens Have To Be To Leave Their Mother[/article]

I feel, as do others, that you are trying to duplicate a situation, but the original situation was not ideal.  I know tiny kittens are adorable, but they also should be with their mother... we cannot possible be a substitute for that unless it is an emergency.

There is not a big difference... A few weeks is a tiny space in the lifetime of a cat.. and if you adopt two mother-raised 12 week old girls you will know that they  have had the best possible start in life.

We are all trying to educate you as to the best interest of the cats. You are making a selfish decision.

In a previous post you wrote that 8 weeks is normal. You decide for yourself already. In General, it is not your business at what age I want to get a cat. Each has its own life. Come learn how to live your children, but not me! For me you are funny.

I said that 10-12 weeks was ideal and that 8 weeks was the absolute youngest.

I did not mean you personally. I don't care for your opinion. In short. I'm just not in the right place looking for kittens. The people here are pedantic, and narrow thinking. Now I see some kittens at the shelter. 8 weeks. Very beautiful. Choose one of them. Good luck!

I hope you do choose one or two of the shelter kittens. That's a great idea, and you'll get to save two lives in need of homes.

It is a wonderful thing to take some kittens from the shelter, and I wish you well with them. But to take kittens from their mother at too early an age is a different thing, not ideal, and you are right,no-one here would give you kittens at such an early age.

Good luck. post some photos when you get them.

We on this site have had MANY years of experience with cats. They are not saying you are taking the kittens at a too young age, it is because kittens learn their limits and manners from their moms and their siblings between the ages of 6-12 weeks, if you take them too young you may have some behavioral prob;ems like biting, scratching and aggressiveness. But in a shelter situation I would adopt them young and teach them myself, it's done all the time, it just takes time and patience. (and the cat behavior forum!) Good luck and bless you for saving a life!

We are not really a site where you advertise to get extremely young kittens. We are a site to offer guidance, support, and advice. This forum, in particular, is for members who need help with pregnant cats and kittens who are already in their possession.

Totally agree with 12 weeks, otherwise they are improperly socialized and have no kitty manners. During 8-12 weeks cats learn important social skills from their mom and litter mates.

Honestly, if you are looking for kittens that young... kitten season is coming and shelters are going to be slammed with bottle babies. Perhaps you could go that route rather than take

really young kittens from their mom and litter mates. I know you don't want opinions and that's fine but I think that'd be the best route to go. Nobody is going to give you a 4 week old kitten that has a mother.

I agree it's just as bad to take a kitten from its mom as it is to snatch a baby.

Lots of mom cats get hit by cars and the babies are brought to the shelter maybe you could adopt one of these.

This is just an idea.....
Since kitten season is coming and the shelters will be overwhelmed with kittens AND with pregnant moms or moms with litters -- would you consider fostering a mother cat with young kittens?

I got my Kiki from a shelter because she had been left in a box in the doorway with her six kittens who were only 1 day old. I took them all to foster, but I kept Kiki, the mother.

If you foster a mother and her litter, you will help the whole family AND watch and help the kittens grow AND get your pick of the litter when the kittens are ready to be adopted.

Just a thought, because that way you can bond with the young kittens and help several other kittens and mom at the same time.

Not trying to preach, just a thought, OK?

Just be aware not everyone is foster material. I myself am definitely not. I'd wind up with 50 cats if I fostered.
