My kitten doesnt grow.

Hi everyone, I am new here. My mother saw a two kitten 1 month ago outside in our house and we decided to adopt them. And someone wants to adopt the other one so we gave it to him. So the other one remain. We are not rich so we dont have a proper food for the kitten. Actually, we have 5 cats and yeah 1 kitten. But the 5cats are already big so we dont have a problem for the food. My problem is the 5-6 weeks old kitten, i wonder why she became very very thin when we feed her 3 times a day. And everytime she shouted "meow",it's cracked, something like she is in a hard situation. .And sometimes she dont want to eat. Whats happening? She doesnt grow. Im very worried. I dont know what to do.

Hi @cathy1234  It sounds like she needs to be wormed. Most outdoor cats pick up parasites.

Could you take her to the vet? They'll be able to test her to find out what kind of worms she has and give you the correct medicine for her.

What are the proper food for the kitten?

There are proper kitten and cat foods you can buy. Brands like Whiskers, Friskies or Sheba might be available in your area. What do you feed your other cats?

The thing is, if she has worms it doesn't matter what you feed her. The worms are going to take most of the nutrition from the food she eats and with a young kitten this could be fatal.

I really recommend you get her checked out by a vet to find out what is wrong with her.

Thank you so much @@norachan. Okay i will follow it. The other cats? Sometimes i feed them some rice with water, chickens, meat, salmon and any fishes, bread, and cheese. Is it okay to feed them those kind of foods?

Cats don't really need rice, but it is an ingredient in many canned cat foods. Actually where I live, in Japan, people used to feed cats rice mixed with a fish based soup before commercial cat foods were available.

Cheese is OK in tiny amounts as a treat, but you shouldn't feed them too much. The same with bread, it's hard for them to digest.

Do you feed them any manufactured cat food at all? I am worried that they are not getting appropriate nutrients, like taurine.

This is getting hard. Ive been asking and searching but we dont have a vet in our area. Its very far in our place. And Im just 16, i dont have enough money to go there. And my kitten is getting weak. Nakakaloka na. And is it normal for them to cough? She's been coughing all the time.And i got ill when we sleep together, is it possible that ill cats can affects you? She shouted all time, she will just quiet if i put her in my lap. Maybe she really needs a mother? Is there any way to fix this? Sorry if i have so many questions i just dont know what to do.

They need food with taurine. Can you get cat food? Or can you feed organ meats along with normal meat? They don't need bread or cheese. They need meat, but the proper blend so they get all nutrients.

Your cat sounds very sick. Coughing is not normal. She really needs a vet.

@Thekittykeepers lives in the Philippines and maybe able to suggest some good commerical cat foods available there or how to make raw or home cooked food that is balanced.
