Greetings everyone! Last day if February! Drum roll!

What is the longest time you have went without sleep?

Just one night for me overall, which I suppose is 24 hours?  - once was in the hospital as a kid, wasn't sleeping that great after surgery #3 and the room was kind of noisy so just decided to stay up. Another time was an all nighter with my friends watching movies as a teen. I felt awful that next day
just exhausted and gross feeling. Never again!  Extra old now wouldn't be able to handle it even more so, among other reasons.

If it counts, my overnight flight to Europe. I dozed a bit on the plane, but not a real sleep. A little dazed afterward upon leaving the plane, normal jetlaggy stuff.

Probably 24 hours also - certainly not more. But it was SO long ago I couldn't really say.

Most likely on some kind of  hallucinogenic binge in college circa 1977

Times have change - I need my sleep now LOL

I think probably about 2 days.  Often though I will get into this thing where I wake up way to early and am ready to go back to sleep when it's time to get up.  I will sometimes do that for as much as a week and it is very draining.

24 hours in college pulling an all-nighter for finals - young and foolish.

Oh, I can always sleep. It's a special talent I have. I don't think I've ever gone more than 20 hours without a nap. Even in my hallucinogenic binge in college circa 1999.

Probably 3 days when I was working third shift and going to classes during the day and trying to write a paper.

I finally figured out that I was going to crash when my GIS (Geographic Information Systems) professor found me cheek-down on the keyboard of my computer during a GIS lab on campus. It was very embarrassing, but thankfully she knew my work schedule and she understood. My lab was my last class of the day and when that was over, I crawled into my car and slept for three hours; I probably could have slept longer, but another Geography prof was getting into his car when he saw me sacked out in my car and he figured he'd better awaken me. He was that concerned that he was going to follow me home, to make sure I made it. But I was OK by that point. It was another hour to drive home and til I finally got home, Rick was frantic. That was before cell phones. But I believed that it was better to grab a nap than try to drive when I simply was not capable of staying awake any longer. I think it would have been ugly.

When I was a young idiot, I thought nothing of drinking & gallivanting around all night & then going to work the next morning without sleep. I did this many times based on the reasoning that it was better to keep going rather than have a small amount of sleep. How I got through my twenties in one piece is still a complete mystery to me. 78 hours.  I do not recommend it.  At all.  And at the end of that time, I was driving home late at night from the hospital where I worked.  I had to pull over at a pay phone (yeah, back in the olden days) and call my dad to come get me.  I was literally seeing purple bulldozers chasing giant pink bunnies down the highway.

7 days.

I began hallucinating.
I am impressed at your stamina.  I was hallucinating after 3 days.  But I was working nonstop in an Emergency Room for that time, so maybe the stress added to it all.

@sivyaleah  have you seen this? We were obviously doing the wrong things in college. All we had to do was stay awake long enough and we could have hallucinated for free.

It wasn't the nice kinda of hallucinating!  I lost the plot completely.  It a was dark and frightening experience.

It was insomnia.  I've been awake for up to 6 days on countless other occasions, it makes me feel very physically sick but can also occasionally sharpen my mind, after about the 3rd day, but I can't convey my thoughts as I lose the power of sentence structure and my eyesight impairs.  Seven days was the longest though, someone actually knocked me out in the end.  I wouldn't recommend it
