hello! i'm new to this site so i'm not really sure if i should be posting here, so please guide me. on monday i got a new kitten who's about three month old, she has a round belly and seems annoyed when she moves around or when i touch her near her stomach, i took her to the vet yesterday and the vet gave her a pill for deworming her and he said she should poop out the worms and that i should take her again on friday, but she didn't poop until this morning, a very dark hard stool but she didn't poop out any worms so i'm not sure what's really wrong with her, is there anything i can feed her to help her with her stomach until i'm able to take her to the vet again? there's no canned pumpkin here where i live, because i've seen people saying that that's an option to feed your cat when it's constipated. i've also seen that giving your cat a small dose of vaseline is also good but i'm not sure really. thanks everyone

I would make sure she's getting plenty of canned (tinned or pouch) food, at least 3 servings a day. Also, you can mix in some water to make it the consistency of oatmeal or gruel.  You might be able to find plain squash baby food and feed her some of that, or make your own. It works like pumpkin.

I'm not quite sure what's going on, but as stephanietx said water is going to be so important whatever it is. Maybe a little bit of soluble fiber like squash is fine as well, but I would not give too much of that or any other constipation remedy without a vet's advice because it sounds like the constipation is a side effect of something else, possibly the worms or the medicine, and you don't want to accidentally aggravate anything. Maybe she'd like something like goat milk or kitten formula to help keep her hydrated as well in the meantime.

I just rescued two 4 week old kittens (weighing about 4oz.) and both were constipated, I was told to put a drop of Karo syrup in the dropper bottle of kitten milk replacement and within 12 hours they both had a bowel movement. Now I put it in every other bottle and they have had no more trouble. I think this would work in cats of all ages with an adjusted dosage based on weight.
