We have 2 or 3 orphaned kittens with paws bleeding.

Their paws have turned red and have no signs of a puncture wound.

The cats couldn't have cut themselves because they've been in a plastic tote box.

First of all i would go to a vet but in the meantime do you use a cleaning solution in the plastic box they are staying in or do you have scented litter?

I clean my cat's litter boxes with an organic dishwashing soap to which i add essential oils like lavandin, teatree and eucalypt this fuctions as a desinfection agent.  In abottle of 500ml you would need 1.5 or two droppers of all the 3 mentioned essential oils ,Shake it well. I also use the same formula for cleaning my floors and surfaces, it works fabulous and it smells great it's practicaly non-toxic and cheap .Just buy a good brand of the essential oils.I had a problem once with scented litter i also used a non-scented good brand of litter and then they started scenting it when i noticed it , it didn't mention anything on the package and i thought o.k. i'll use it up and then when reordering buy another brand but one of my cats developed a funges infection of the nailbed and i relly think it was the litter which caused it.I really hope you find out soon what's wrong with the little ones, so sad for them.

 :help:  me :please: .
How old are the kittens? Are they trying to escape and hurting themselves? Could it be a fungus?

Sadly, we currently do not have the money to visit the vet.

We do not have litter in the box but have an absorbent training pad.

And when the box gets dirty we use a bleach cleaner.

Ok, using bleach might be the problem. How thoroughly are you rinsing after using the bleach? How often are you changing the puppy pad? I think this could be chemical burns, or urine scald.

And how did you get these kittens? They will need vetting at some point. Perhaps it would help to find a rescue to take them in.

After every usage of bleach we wipe it with paper towels.

We change the pad at every feeding time (3 times a day).

Our cat gave birth to them and then disappeared after 2 weeks (coyotes probably got her  ):   ).

Ok, I believe you are burning their paws with bleach. Wiping it up doesn't rinse it out at all. Can you find a more mild cleaner? I would use soap and water and dry completely for them before returning.

Would you like help finding a rescue to help? Kittens are expensive.

How old are they?

Will look for a more mild cleaner.

What do you mean by a rescue?

They are 4-6 weeks old.

Just use soap and water. Dish soap would work. Go ahead and wash all of their paws gently now. You don't want them eating any of the bleach off of their feet.

Are they eating solids? They need more food than you are giving if you are only feeding meals three times a day.

A rescue would help you to rehome, vet, and spay/neuter the kittens. They will need vet attention when they are 8 weeks old.

Ok will do.

They are currently being weaned.

No I don't think I don't we need a rescue. Their mother and father were both strays and did fine.

We originally had 5 cats but lost 3 ; our cat had 4 kittens so we're only gaining 1 more.

We have enough supplies to care for the cats.

We might give away one.

So what are you feeding them? Bottle only three times a day? How much formula?

Will you be able to get them to the vet for spaying, neutering, deworming, and vaccines? Will they be kept inside?

Please use only dish doap and water and absolutely no bleach. Their paws have bleach burn and possibly urine burn.

You need to rinse all of their paws under running water, dry them, and apply vaseline or coconut oil to help them heal. This is painful for the kittens, so please treat their paws asap!

They need to learn to use a litter box, even one with sand in it if litter is too expensive. They also need to explore and play outside of the plastic tote.

Are they 4 weeks old or 6 weeks old?

We are currently feeding them KMR 2nd step.

We feed them approximately 1 ounce per feeding.

No, we were going to have the kittens be natural.

Once they grow up they're going to be outside cats.

OK will use dish soap from now on.

Help them bleed?

They are going to be outside cats once they've grown up. Could I just put the litter in the bottom of the box?

It's been closer to 6 weeks.

Oops!!! I meant help them HEAL! Thanks for catching that! I corrected it above. Please clean their paws and put something on them to help them heal.

Can you put the litter in a box so they don't have to step in it other than to use it?

They need to be spayed and neutered or they will interbreed and you will be over run with endless kittens.

I can look for a low-cost spay/neuter clinic for you if you give your city and state.

I totally agree with talkingpeanut and sarthur2.  Spaying and neutering your kittens even if they are to remain outside will vastly improve the quality of their lives.  Otherwise the males will spend their lives fighting and ending up with abscesses from bites, while the females suffer from having litter after litter of kittens.  Truly, spaying and neutering is so much better for your kittens.

How are their paws looking?  Did you manage to clean the tote with soapy water and wash their wee paws?

They need to be wormed by now, and need to be wormed every two weeks until they're twelve weeks old.  Have you given them any worm medicine?

What have you done about litter?

And letting them out for a breather?
