Hi friends, just a quick question. My cat Mak and I are new to this feeding tube and it's giant syringes... We have finally figured out dosing, but I'll be damned if two weeks into this and the syringes are the WORST. They are the 60ml size with the black plunger to push the food. They stick really bad and have become difficult to plunge. My vet suggested using Vaseline, and that seems to work until I put the food in it. Yay.

Any suggestions or tricks on how to make these work, or better ones and where I can find them? My hands hurt!

Thank you!!

I totally understand your frustration!  The syringes with the black rubber plungers (Monojet) are designed for a single use as they have a lubricant that fails after the first use.  If you wash them, it makes it worse.

You need to buy some "O-Ring" syringes which make feedings easier, faster and safer.  The "O Ring" syringe uses silicone material that glides reliably through hundreds of uses.  I think it is made in Germany.  Once you try these, you will never go back to the old black plunger type.

You can order the "O-Ring" syringes in a variety of sizes.  The 5cc which I used for meds cost $3.69 and the 35cc which I used for feedings cost $4.49.  They can be ordered from www.KittyKollar.com.  They ship pretty fast.

They also have the cotton protector pads and other items you may find helpful for tubefeeding.

I think you will be pleased.  Good luck to you and Mak!

Excellent company to work with. you can buy extra syringes from a farm store or from you veterinarian I would think. If your tube has the screw on it you should be able to find those there also. You will have to explain what you're looking for.

ok great, thanks for the heads up. I will look into the Kitty Collar website. Ill also ask my vet exactly what kind of tube he has... it doesn't have a screw top and isn't the red ones I've seen a bunch.

thanks again!!
