There's a lot of information to include here, so I'll do my best to keep it short. First of all, her pregnancy was a complete accident. Second, it's incestuous. Her brother is special needs and can't be neutered safely. I missed her appointment to get spayed in the middle of January, and I was rewarded with kittens.

Four weeks ago, she was pretty much normal. She did have a little bit of a football shape, but it was hardly noticeable. Three weeks ago, she started eating a lot more than usual. Two weeks ago, her nipples started to puff up but were soft. Still eating a ton more than usual. Last week, her nipples started to get harder than usual, and the hair around them started to part. Eating even more. This week, she's huge. The size of your standard football, I'd say. She's eating even more, if that's even possible. She's started to get very affectionate, compared to her usually being a very fierce, independent kitty who holds grudges longer than most people. In fact, she's sleeping on my legs as I type this. And lastly, her nipples are almost clearly visible and they're very solid. And I think I feel the babies. It's hard to describe, but it kind of feels like a bubble shifting, like a little 'pop'. This is the first time I've felt something like this.

I'm very hesitant posting this because it's an accident and it's incest. The forum I asked last week attacked me and called me a troll, but I can assure you that this is very real. And

Thank you in advance xx

Welcome to TCS! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

It's a shame you were treated as a troll. Your cat is not the first to experience an incestuous mating, and won't be the last. We are here to help!

It sounds like your cat may be about 6-7 weeks along, but it's difficult to know for sure. The general rule of thumb is once you can see and/or feel the kittens move there are 2-3 weeks left in the pregnancy.

Cat pregnancy averages about 65-68 days, and cats can get very big, hard tummies. Their hormones make them very affectionate, and they eat 2-3 times as much food since they are carrying kittens.

Here are some links you may find helpful in the meantime:

Often with first-generation inbreeding the kittens will be fine, though it depends on the particular dominant and recessive genes that play out. Try not to worry too much over this.

What are her brother's special needs, and what are the fears regarding his health if he's neutered?

You will have to keep him away from the mom and the kittens until mom is spayed and the kittens are fixed and/or rehomed.

This is a live feed, with a heavily pregnant cat, who will give birth within the next day or two.  The camera stays in the room for a full 8 to 9 weeks, until the kittens are neutered and/or spayed and put up for adoption.  There is a nice foster man who cares for the kittens, coming in several times a day.  However, it's mostly just the kittens and mum on screen.  There are people on "chat" you can talk to for live-action advice.  I've dipped in and out of a 9 week full term pregnancy to birth to kittenhood to adoption before.  I learnt heaps about teenyweeny, baby kittens.  I recommend you check in on things as your kittens will be around the same age and you can pick up tips and see live in front of you what to do.

It is called The Critter Room (Gaia's kittens).
