Hi,
A pregnant stray cat was spayed about 2 weeks ago who was a 7 weeks old nursing mom.
But now she is showing symptoms of being in heat. Is this normal?

And she seems to be a bite mark on her could it be from the mating?

It can take weeks for the hormones to leave her body after a spaying, she could have been mated if there were enough present yet. But as long as you know she was spayed, she no longer has a uterus, or eggs to fertilize, so everything will be fine, she won't get pregnant.  I feel sorry for her, she may get hurt by those aggressive toms, I would keep her indoors for a few weeks if at all possible.

Unfortunately, I can't take her in.
The toms seem to have lost interest. It was yesterday, they (about 3 toms) were going crazy and wouldn't let her be.

My main concern right now is, she has lost some hair on her neck, there isn't a deep wound or anything. Is this normal after mating, should I just clean with a damp cloth as there's some dried sand on it.
Or should I take her to the Vet?

I don't think she needs a vet visit yet. Keep an eye on it for signs of infection and take her to the vet right away if it looks infected.

If the vet missed a piece of ovarian tissue, a spayed cat can still go into heat, but she won't get pregnant. If you notice that happening she would need another surgery to find the ovarian tissue, or, because she's outside you could just leave it that way. But she would be at increased risk of being injured by a tom or catching a disease. Because she was spayed not very long ago, it might just be that the hormones are still circulating so I wouldn'tworry about that yet. Just something to keep an eye on in the future.

OK, I will try posting a picture of it tomorrow.

Yes, I called the vet yesterday and I was told that it would take a while for the hormones to leave her body! She was spayed on the 13th of feb.

She should be ok as long as you cleaned her up and she is current on shots. If she isnt current on shots especially rabies, you might want to get it done. You never know what wild outdoor cats can have. The Toms may have been wild and thats why it looks so bad but cats normally fight before mating as the tom wants to show dominance. She could have what i like to call residue heat for at least a month. Since she was fixed so recently. Hope youre girl is ok.

It does look bad. :(
But its not a deep wound, she has lost lots of hair and theres sand stuck to it!
Should I try cleaning it with a damp cloth and betadine solution?

awe the poor thing. That looks awful. Hopefully the fur will come back and cover anywhere there could be scarring. It doesn't look like they got her very deep so maybe there won't be any. I'm crossing my fingers gers and praying.

OH And Definitely Clean it. I don't know about the betadine solution, not even sure what that is or if it's safe on their skin. I usually just use some cotton and peroxide if I have to clean any wound on them. Maybe someone else will know.

So I was searching. I knew what it was, just not by name lol. Everything I found, bit is safe for cats since it is what's used for surgeries. I'd say clean it and keep a close eye on it for infection. Make sure there isn't any particles stuck on the wound. I just found out also, don't use cotton since it will leave cotton particles. A cloth should work great.

Thats alot wider then you would have from a Tom's holding mark. They must of went to town on her or she got scraped up somehow. Wound wash saline works well for cleaning wounds and gauze or paper towels. Rags can be allitle rough but it it's what ya have will do the trick. Make sure to wear gloves when cleaning it just in case it turns out to be something like ringworm.

It was the toms. There were 3 of them, very aggressive. I caught them twice biting her.

Clean her up with warm running water. She may need a bath in the sink. Then you can see if the skin is scratched or showing open wounds. If it looks infected, she'll need antibiotics from the vet. Please apply coconut oil to the area to help it stay moist and heal.

Poor kitty - that was surely a traumatic experience for her! [emoji]128546[/emoji]

Should I apply betadine or coconut oil?

You may need to put her in the tub or sink and run water over it to really get all the sand off and to see how bad her wounds are. She is probably sore. She may need to see a vet.

Please post a picture of the area once it is cleaned.

I don't think you need the betadine. Coconut oil should be soothing.
