My friend rescued Jasper back in May of 2016 from under her classroom. The mom cat still comes by a lot and is very friendly and is black with short hair. I know that since he isn't a purebred, you can't label him as a breed... but which breeds do you think he represents? As a kitten I thought he looked similar to a Turkish Angora but he is far too big and still growing. His paw are ginormous!! I also think maybe some ragdoll? His face has some orange as well as his paws, the center of his tail, and the top part of his back!

I found Jasper under a classroom back in May and have been trying ever since to figure out what kind of cat he most resembles. At first I thought a Turkish Angora because of the big fluffy tail and small head. He was so skinny and tiny for the age the vet thought he was, so it fit with the idea that he had Turkish Angora in him, since they are small cats. Not after long I started thinking maybe he was a flame point ragdoll. He is super friendly and follows me around to every room I go in to. Though a lot of his personality characteristics to align with the ragdoll, there were a lot that didn't. He loves being up high and is very wild. He's not docile whatsoever, like a ragdoll is said to be. He does let me hold him more so than any other cat I have owned, but not after long he wasn't to be put down to run off and play. He loves his belly scratched though and is best friends with our Australian shepherd dogs. We live in California, so the winters aren't cold, yet it's almost like he grew this big fluffy mane around his head and neck. He loves playing with toys that make him think. He never seems to get tired, and loves to run up and down the hallways as fast as he can. I recently started to think maybe he most resembles a Siberian. He chirps at me quite often too when he catches me looking a him haha. I know he can't be labeled a breed because he isn't a purebred and his mom was just your average black cat, but I'm so curious as to which breed he most resembles. If you could help me out that would be great!

The pictures are in chronological order! On a side note... he'll be one we think in a month and he just doesn't seem to stop growing! His paws are HUGE and his coloring seems to be developing more and more.

The choice will stand between a Balinese flame point and a ragdoll flame point.  Not very typical for either of them, but verry gorgious in his way...

Perhaps he may even wind up as an Angora affer all.  I know other colors than white are allowed nowadays.  If point is allowed too, it will be a hot candidate.

Observe, Im talking aobut "look alikes", Im NOT saying she is any of these breeds, even if the look-alikeness would be excellent.   If there were some sort of  extern proofs - yes, I can bend somewhat.  But not without proofs - correct papers or otherwise.

Aha, so momma is black shorthair.  Thus we know for sure he cant be no purebred, whom, happened to come astray.

But it would be swell if somebody adopted this friendly momma too!

btw, daddy must have been the red one.   He too may have been shorthair, but both parents were carriers of both the point and long hair gene - both these are recessive.

I have combined your two threads, He is a beautiful boy, but it is highly unlikely that he has any actual breed in him. It does not usually work like that with cats, unlike dogs. All cats have some characteristics of breeds, because all recognized breeds were selected from ordinary cats, in different parts of the world. So the genes are present everywhere. But he is a gorgeous DLH, a perfect example of why one does not need a highly bred cat for perfect feline beauty!
