I have two 7 month old kittens that just got spayed. The vet said that they get 2 layers of internal stitching, so I don't believe there is supposed to be any stitching on the outside. However, one kitten's wound is like...open. Not gaping, but the sides of the skin are pulled apart (we're on day 2 after surgery). No bleeding, but I'm not sure what that white stuff is on her skin (maybe surgical glue?), but I'm inexperienced in this. Is this normal? The kittens were extremely active immediately following the surgery, and there's only so much jumping that we could contain, so I'm scared she may have pulled it open more. The green mark is a tattoo put on by the vet.
To prevent the kittens from licking the wounds, we put baby onesies on them. I'm not sure if they just hate the onesie, but now they just lay around and refuse to walk most of the time (they're normally extremely active). They won't use the bathroom with it on, and they aren't really eating with it on either. The same kitten with the more open incision has started trembling a lot since we put it on. Again, is this normal? Do they just hate it? Or should I call the vet?
*Note: the onesies aren't too tight, and aren't restricting airways or the areas for excretion. They slammed themselves into walls when we had the cones on, so we went with onesies.
Thanks for the help.
