So I recently moved into a new home and have noticed my cat has been throwing up a lot more than usual. He did it sometimes at the old house but since moving, he has almost daily. The throw up is mainly foamy looking and haven't seen chunks of anything here. In the past he has been known to eat plastic (no clue why... adopted him less than a year ago).

I feed him Nutro and he seems to like it but I'm so lost on what to do. My cats from my childhood never did a lot of the things he does, so I don't know what to do.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

The foamy looking clear stuff is usually from an over acidic stomach and can often be alleviated by using Pepcid A/C.  1/4 tablet twice a day.  It's bitter though, so kind of tough to get in them.  And you need to try to do it about 1/2 an hour before a full meal.  We used to have to give our kidney cat this often, so actually get it compounded into an injectable form.  Made it so much easier.  Of course, we KNEW it worked for her issue

If that doesn't resolve the issue, you should take him to your Vet and get him a check-up.  Daily vomiting is NOT normal.

The clear and/or foamy looking stuff is stomach acid or bile.  It is usually thrown up in the mornings on an empty stomach.  It is not normal.  Cats should not be throwing up often.  It is a "red flag" of trouble.  I would definitely consult a Vet about this issue.prior to giving any over the counter drug.  Pepcid AC does work...but maybe too well...and it can mask a serious underlying problem as I learned through painful experience.

I had a very beloved cat who began throwing up clear and/or foamy stuff usually in the mornings before breakfast.  I took her to the Vet who recommended an Ultrasound which I did.  The Ultrasound showed some inflammation and fluid in the stomach and the thinking of the Vet doing the Ultrasound and my Vet reading the report was that the cat had acid in the stomach, gastritis, or GERD.  So Vet recommended we give 1/4 Pepcid A/C daily in the evening to carry her through till morning.  So faithfully, each evening, I pulverized 1/4 Pepcid A/C and mixed it in with her evening meal and she ate well.  The Pepcid A/C seemed to solve the problem.  Cat perked up, only rarely vomited clear/liquid or foam in the morning.  Cat did fine until one morning, three months later, cat "hit a wall" and refused to eat. I immediately took cat to the Vet who then referred cat for further testing.  Cat was hospitalized next day; endoscopy was done. To my shock and horror, cat had small cell lymphoma of stomach and small intestines!  Over the next week, cat was on round the clock care by the best Vets; everything that could be done to save her was done...but it wasn't enough as the cancer had eaten through her stomach.  Soon, she was crying out in pain and I had the Vet end her suffering.

The big mistake here was treating with an over the counter drug on the (limited) basis of the Ultrasound without getting a definite diagnosis.  Pepcid A/C did work in stopping the vomiting, but masked the underlying problem...Cancer...until it was too late.

Pepcid A/C does have its place.  I have used it successively with a cat who had kidney disease, but that was under Vet's care after definitive diagnosis.   I urge you to consult your Vet soon about your cat's vomiting issue.
