Hi guys , my kitten is 7 weeks old and I've adopted him 2 days ago
He eats wetfood ok , but isn't really drinking water or kitty milk so I went out and brought kitten formula and he doesn't really lick it up
I brought a bottle and tried it tonight but again he doesn't really like it , he is playful when he wakes up but sleeps a lot .. does kittens sleep a lot ?
He uses the cat litter tray very well for wees but I haven't seen poo yet
Just wondering if anyone has any tricks on how to help him poo and how to incourage him to take some water or milk x thanks

He is probably getting all the water that he needs from the wet food. What do you mean by kitty milk? He definitely doesn't need a bottle.

Where did you adopt him from? Has he seen a vet?

I adopted him from a local shelter and I'm glad he doesn't need a bottle hahah I was just worried as I didn't see him licking any milk or water in 24 hours !
And his first visit is on Friday coming
Kitty milk as in milk by the brand whiskers
And also offered him cat formula I brought that has extra nutrition
He doesn't like any of them and runs from the water lol
But he loves his wet food

Great, keep feeding the wet food.  Don't feed the cat milk.  It's a treat, and lacking in nutrition.  Always leave water out.  He will drink it when he needs.

The vet should deworm and vaccinate him.  Bring up your concerns about him seeming sleepy then.  Does he play at all?

I'm so happy - he is settling in wonderfully , eats plenty of wet food and water - sometimes milk as a treat , wees and poos in the litter tray with no accidents yet , very playful and he is almost 8 weeks now :)
He is booked in for vaccinations - desexing and mircochipping and the vet has said to use this treatment on it neck from 9 weeks for worms and fleas and it's like an all in one pretty good !
Only question I have is - when should I introduce dry food to his wet food ?

He should have access to kitten chow 24/7 the first year, so just leave it down so he can try it. Wet food is much better for cats overall, but the kitten chow provides excellent nutrition for growing kittens.

Ok I brought some kitten dry food - do I need to water them to soften them so he won't choke ?
He eats a lot ... he loves his food lol , still isn't very interested in water or milk but absolutely goes nuts for his wet food

You can soften them with kitten formula if you'd like. Mine loved it that way. He'll get his adult teeth around 12-16 weeks, and won't need it softened. But yes, the pieces are tiny so that weaning kittens can crunch on them dry as well.

Can anyone please give me some advice
My kitten has suddenly got loose poo - it's light brown in colour / not really smelly but he keeps having runny poo
Could this be from the change in food ?

observe, this is not behavior problem as such, but its a problem with diarrhea...

How and why is another question.   Can you get raw goats milk?  May be useful, whatever the reason.   Some nice probiotic wont hurt - if you cant find raw goats milk.

Yes, many cats are sensitive to diet changes, others less so.

Has he been dewormed?  Twice?  It may be another reason for runny poo.

He has been wormed and due for another next week ,
I actually think it's from over feeding him ? Or changing his food as started on a different brand once I brought him home then what we ate at the shelter
I've been offering him wet food whenever he wants he or looking for food lol ... now I'm going to only offer him wet food 3-4 times a day and a bowl of kibble which i will leave out daily , and water of course which he still isn't interested in drinking though :/
He is running around the house and getting up to no good [emoji]128514[/emoji]
I don't think his loose poo is because he is sick but more so over feeding and change of his diet , hopefully his loose stools will stop otherwises it's another vet appointment

It sounds like it's the food change. Wet food is 3-4 times a day (small portions) on a schedule, with dry kitten chow available 24/7.

When changing foods, it's best to mix the new in with the old over a period of time to avoid the tummy upset and diarrhea.

You can mix a teaspoon of plain pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) into each dish of wet food in the meantime. It will help to firm his stool.

With the plain pumpkin do I boil it first ? Or just cut it up into little pieces x
