I'm from a third world country, animal shelter and groups are really rare and most are really far, and most of the time, doesn't take in animals since they are full.
Is it wrong to pick up cats(that are left by human)? I can shelter and feed them but vets are extremely expensive for me. Asking help from animal groups and shelters are a no-go due to reasons above.

When they are sick, I try my hardest to look for money and bring them to vet and buy medicine. But yearly/monthly check ups is too much for me.

Is it wrong of me to adopt them with my situation?

Is it wrong to Love animals who cannot care for themselves - to open your Heart and to care for them, to the best of your ability?  If it is wrong, then every member of this site - regardless of their financial ability - is guilty.

Welcome to The Cat Site.  I hope you'll stay with us.

They have a better life now because you took them in. It is a great thing that you are doing! I hope the knowledge on these boards will help with the care of your new companions

Hi @Nekoneko

Welcome to TCS. I also live in a country where there are very few animal shelters and lots of stray and feral cats. Anything that you can do for these cats will improve their lives immensely, but here are a few lessons I've learnt along the way which I'd like you to keep in mind.

Please don't feed the cats unless you can get them spayed and neutered.

It sounds unkind to let an animal go hungry, but if you provide food and water for one outdoor cat others will show up. By providing food you are encouraging them to stay in the same area, where they will meet other cats, and you are ensuring that they are healthy enough to mate and produce kittens.

They breed so fast it will make your head spin!

If you are going to feed them you need to make sure you can get them fixed. If you are short of money you should get the girls spayed first of all, then get the boys neutered when you have a bit more cash saved up.

If you can bring these cats indoors they will be safer and more comfortable. Even outdoor cats can live quite comfortably if you provide them with shelters. I've included links to a few articles here which may help.

Vets recommend vaccinations and annual health checks and boosters, but if you can't afford to do this or can't catch the wilder cats a second time, don't worry. The cats I care for are all fixed and were given a blood test and a vaccine when I first took them to the vet. However, it isn't possible to take them back to the vet every year for vaccinations. That first vaccine is better than nothing. If that's all you can do for them at least you've done that.

Which country do you live in, if you don't mind me asking? We have members all over the World, maybe some people live in the same country as you and can recommend cheap vets close by.

I'll keep that in mind Norachan Norachan .

I'm from Philippines.
There are lots of stray cats and dogs here, and imo majority here really lack awareness in taking care of animals.
