It may have changed since I last researched, but last I checked, almo nature (the cans) doesn't add vitamins and minerals to their food. Meaning that it is not balanced to have all of the nutrients a cat needs. So I think it's great as an addition to a diet, but you still need a balanced food as the main diet.

None of the Almo canned and pouched cat foods are complete balanced diets because they lack vitamins and minerals. They're only  meant to be fed with regular dry food. The web site at one point even said said "60% wet food + 40% dry food = 100% balanced nutrition". That claim has since disappeared from the web site.

If you look at the blog, some of the annoucements for the new foods "For an optimal nutritional balance we recommend to feed cats, all types of meat and fish in moist and dry food (60% and 40% of the total volume, respectively) to guarantee the intake of all the necessary nutrients" (wording is a litle different for some products).

As an occasional treat or meal, Almo is fine but do not feed it as the only food because your cat may develop nutritional deficiencies.

LTS3 LTS3 That very much depends on where you live. Almo Nature also has complete cat food, i.e., their "Daily Menu", which is available in Europe.

Thanks for the reply. I googled it some more and found similar info online. I think I spent two and a half hour finally coming up with dry food that was acceptable both healthwise and to my wallet yesterday. Jeez, there's a jungle out there. Anyway, thanks again :)

I should have added that
None of the Almo canned and pouched foods sold in the US are complete diets. Some of the Almo foods sold in Europe and perhaps other countries are complete diets. Check the label or the Almo web site for the products sold in your country. The general rule is if there are no vitamins and minerals listed in the ingredients, then err on the safe side and consider the food as not a complete diet.
