Hi, I rescued my kitty Boris late last year and we are a work in progress as he was living on the streets and was put in the pound etc. but must have been someone's pet because he could use a litter tray etc.  I thought he was just an average tabby but since he's been fed and groomed regularly I have noticed that he seems bigger than an average domestic cat, he has a very dense coat and is now sporting a gorgeous mane.  The front legs appear shorter than the back, and he seems to have 'trousers'  and a very bushy tail. He is very vocal and growls like a dog when he is spooked, and acts like a patrol dog, not sure if he has a bit of other breed in him.  He has green eyes, big feet and tufty paws.  Any ideas, happy whatever he is but he seems a slight bit different than the average moggie.  Now he is used to the area, (I had him on a lead for walks) he goes out and comes back so he may shed some of his inside weight as he is a terrible food monster.

Oh, he could any day of the week get job as a stand in for a Maine Coon.   Ask at Hollywood, with greetings from me if you want.  This quadratish jaw is worth much if you are a MCO wannabe!

These without papers are cheaper to hire than those with full  pedigree.  They arent covered by the same Union, you see.   :)

Trousers you mention are often called for pantaloons in the cat circles...   Pantaloons were some sort of loose sitting trousers.

Ps   A siberian /Boris!) isnt totally outside the scope either, but if you live in America, the MCO are the given choice.    Siberians too are often described as to be much dog alike in their behavior.

Thanks Stefan,

I thought he might have a bit (must be a mix) of Maine Coon (he has a big face) and tabby but his ears are fairly tabby (?)  I live in Australia (originally Irish) so having a cat for me is a bit of a challenge in this country as this chap is not an indoor (apartment cat) like the rescue centre assumed. He was in a fairly poor state when I got him and it's only with the regularly grooming and feeding that I think his true coat has come through. I have have cats before but this guy is quite a character, I think he would chase off burglars to be honest!! Someone said he is like a forest cat....luckily he likes to be combed :-)  but he is getting big now over 4kg and I really have to watch his food.  Whatever he is - he is very handsome to me but then so is everyone's cat, so glad I found him even if I get woken up at 4am every morning ;-(

OMG He is absolutely gorgeous!

He has that Maine Coon look about him. 4kg is nothing for a large domestic cat breed. Adult Maine Coons weigh double that, easily.

@GemsGem  What do you think?

He's breathtaking, and his Maine Coon Cat heritage is headline strong.  If I were a professional cat hirer, I'd hire him in a minute.

"Tabby or not Tabby" - I always loved Hamlet's third act.
