I keep a small Fish tank on my Night stand in my bedroom, and I keep my betta fish Hank in it. Well I got home from work Friday morning to find The plastic plant that was in the tank sitting on the bathroom counter....I freaked! thinking what a sad way for a fish to go!!! I know that Blade loves to sit and watch him. and always figured it was only a matter of time before he got tired of watching and went in for the tasty treat. Anyway....I go into my bedroom and see that the tank was on floor all tipped over and spilled. I told my SO about the tank being tipped over and showed him the plant. He commented "oh so that's where that came from" Meaning that he found it late Thursday nite after I had already gone to work. Now keep in mind I am not home from 9:30pm to about 7:00am. So I figrued for sure that Hank was gone. So I go to start to pick up the now empty tank and see that Hank is laying uneaten and un touched under my nite stand and since I don't like slimy things I asked my SO to pick it up and to dispose of it. Well when he went to pick it up he flopped out of his hand!!!!!!!!! So knowing that there was still life in the poor thing I hurry and filled his tank with some water and we got him put back in it!!! He had to of been out of the water for HOURS!!!!!!!!!!! But was totally untouched!!!!! no signs of any kitty paws or teeth touching him!!! Before I came to work tonight he was sleeping peacefully in his new spot on top of a bookcase that is out of the reach of kitty paws!! The poor little thing! I felt so bad for him! But he must be one super strong fishy to live so long outside of the water like he did! and then relax in his tank like it was just a normal everyday thing!.........YEAH MY HANK STILL LIVES!!!! LOL I know I'm strange!!! But I've always loved betta fish but never owned one before, up until 3 weeks ago when I bought Hank. Anyway! I just had to share my story about my little determined fishy Hank!

I think that Hank should be re-named Nemo. He's been through a lot!

I know this sounds sort-of weird, but did it occur to you that the fish might have tipped over the bowl by himself?

Some fish, especially bigger ones, have been known to be strong enough to knock over fish bowls if they push on them hard enough. I'm not saying this is the case, it would just explain the lack of cat markings on the fish (cats usually carry things via mouth or swat at them with claws).

No I know he didn't because I've been having problems of Blade "hanging out" by his tank. And The pure it's a good gallon and a half tank, I doubt a little tiny fish could have the power to knock it over. Plus Blade has a fasination with plant that I used to keep in there. This was proved last night when I came home and the plant that was put on a shelf in my clothes when I left for was now in the cat condo where Blade loves to "hide" his toys. So it's now in the Big fish tank where he can't get to it or the other fish.
