Now you're confusing me! You don't have to go to an App Store to find an app. You just click on the mail, etc. symbol & it gives you the option of saving an app to your home screen.

When I said offline I meant when I am not logged in. Sorry, that was confusing.
I'm also on iPad Air. I just tried clicking the Catsite symbol in my email and it opened a new Catsite page in Safari.
The option is like what talkingpeanut mentioned, a short cut to the website and if you save the web page to your favorites, a Catsite icon will appear on your home screen and is that the app you are talking about?

Try clearing the history and logged out and go into iPad settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data

Done that a MILLION times.

I think you've saved a shortcut onto your desktop, so to speak. It's just a way to access the website quickly. An app has to be downloaded from the App Store or a website specifically.
What's the difference between a shortcut & an app?

An app is its own thing, a program specifically made to run on a smartphone or tablet. You have just saved the website. They both appear as icons on your desktop.

Hold both buttons in for a longer time
Did that, made no diff.

I think I am going to have to go 2 towns over by bus to the Apple Store in a local mall. Never been to an Apple Store but this one has positive reviews.

If I had to guess, I would think something is off in settings.

Hope you get it solved soon and please let us know what's causing it to behave this way ;)

It sounds like you're saving a shortcut to the website, but not an app.
Okay, aren't these apps? I am SO confused now.

No, those aren't apps. They're bookmarks or shortcuts. When you click on one of the icons it takes you to the website without having to type in the URL every time, but that's all it does.

Your original problem could possibly be related to the way your iPad interacts with the TCS website, but it's not due to an app that doesn't exist. Hope you get it figured out soon.

@Primula
one more thing to try. Can you please access another website that runs on the same platform as TCS? Try these -
www.backyardchickens.com
www.cheftalk.com
www.niketalk.com

If the problem is related to the platform, you'll experience it on those sites as well.
Anne, no problem on those sites.

Went to Apple Store this a.m. Apple senior advisor accessed this site on his iPad & his pages shrunk too. So that's two senior Apple advisors who tell me the problem lies with this site. Apple guy had never seen this problem before.

Primula, you said this problem starting occurring about 3 and a half days ago... Anne Anne , were there any changes or updates done to the forum or to its coding right around that time? Maybe it is a change in the CSS or PHP or HTML coding... a widget code? did something change in the CSS stylesheets? A change in detecting user interfaces? Some update that is automatic that you weren't aware of? Something like that? A change in the commenting coding for the forum? Just brainstorming.

Not to the best of my knowledge. We share the platform with the three sites that I mentioned above so any changes to the platform coding would have affected all of the sites.

I'm scratching my head here as this is a real mystery. @LavishSqualor  are you still having the same issue on an iPad?

If what Anne suggested doesn't work, can you switch to the mobile site and see how it is on there. Maybe you can use that?

Anne, whatever you did appears to have worked. When I returned from the Apple Store yesterday, I still had the problem. But during the afternoon the pages stopped shrinking & haven't shrunk since.

Fingers crossed. [emoji]128526[/emoji]
