Hi

Girlfriend invited me to a vacation in a rented house. My family won't take care of my female 5 month kitten, so I have to take her with me for a whole week there. The though part is, my girlfriend will also take her 4 month old female kitten. They will be both on the same car. I am excited that my kitten will have a playing partner, but I am worried they might have a dificult time meeting each other.

Their personalities:

My: kitten: Docile, but a bit hard to aproach kitten. Only gives affection to me, I am like a mother cat to her, she kneads near me only, wake me up in the morning, rub her face on my face( I have to turn my head, otherwise she basicaly Kiss me) and ask to be pet. Sleeps with me on bed. Also, she likes my dog, and had no problem meeting It.

Her kitten: Most Docile and easy to aproach kitten I ever met. First time I saw her , she asked me to pet her on the very first aproach when I showed my hand for her. My girlfriend's Father adopted and found her on the street, she was meowing and asking for help (I think) , wasn't scared, very docile to humans, clearly no a feral kitten. Probably abandoned, she is black and It was one week after friday 13th , can't be mere coincidence... But she is a bit though to meet dogs, gets scared by my girlfriend's dogs, weird.

Also, both aren't neutered yet.

I need tips on how to make their meeting as good as possible. Mine was never on a car before, she will be in a shelter during the trip, If necessary.

My kitten Lilith

Her kitten Minerva ( nursering from her este)

Kittens get along remarkably well. There might be a smidgen of "who are you?!" But just relax and let them be. I have never had trouble introducing any kitten to another other then maybe an initial startled hiss. I find it is not until 9 months to a year (essentially after puberty) that they start to have territory issues.

I hope so.

Update:

Her kitten is hissing at mine a lot, and is very protective of her good, I can't even aproach, even though she already met me before. My girlfriend is the only one that can aproach. My kitten only hisses as a answer to her hissing.
It's been 2 days like this. Help

Keep them separate in different rooms. Cats need a lot of time for introductions and change and a week isn't enough. Cats also don't respond well to travel for the most part, so might be stressed.

Do you have them in cat carriers in the car?

And not being spayed might be part of the issue too. Hormones are probably getting stronger right about now. Do you have plans to get them done soon?

Yes, mine was in a carrier in the car, but her was not, and was super fine. They got along once I left them on the garden( the house is huge, on a mountain with no neighbors  , and the road is far away) and her kitten started to ''haunt'' my kitten. They runned, pawed each other, almost no hissing. het kitten climbed a tree for the first time ever. They seemed pretty happy for cats being on a unknow place. Back to their rooms, they were still not very friendly, but they seemed to tolerate each other more. I think her kitten was srtressed with the new environment, and  didn't want to share her space and food, but everything seemed fine after some days. The key was to keep them away from their food and let them free roam a little bit. I am already home with my kitten. Everything was fine, no kittens hurt.

Two points:
They both need to be in carriers in the car. It's a safety hazard for them and for you if they were to get frightened or if there were to be an accident. They would go flying.

You also should not allow unspayed cats outside at all. Yours are young, and can't be trusted to make safe decisions outside regardless. They can go into heat, or a silent heat at any time. They can also get pregnant without going into heat at all.

Please take necessary precautions to keep your kittens safe. They are babies.

She didn't have a Carrier though.
I don't let cats outside without supervision, don't worry, they were all near me under my sight all the time. They are my family and I treat them as Babies. The local had no animals besides ours, and no cars or hazards. I am against cats outside in a urban area though (where I live), so they are pretty much locked inside.

She needs to get a carrier before traveling with the cat further. It's a must.

You could try taking them out on a leash if you want them to be safe. If they are climbing trees they have too much freedom at their age.

When do you plan to spay?

If you read my last edited post, you will noticed I don't even let cats outside frequently. They were only there because it was safe, and they were under our sight , they wouldn't leave our side by a few metters. Anyway, they were locked back after one hour of play time.

My vet said she will only spay( for free, she was adopted there) my kitten after she is 6 month old , don't ask me why.

About her kitten being in the cat unsafe, well, that was her responsability, I took Care of mine at least. Her kitten was fine cuddling with her in the car though, really an adorable baby.

I'm glad to hear that you are taking precautions. Please help your girlfriend to keep her kitten safe, too.

Thank you. And yes, I try to warn her. It's her first kitten though ( mine is my first too, but I read a lot about cats)
