Here is the link for those curious.

I actually know about this from the start because the guy got the attention of some of the foster groups I follow when he posted a photo of a feral cat dead in a a trap. He said that he really misses the days when he got paid $5 a cat for their furs and bring on the haters. So the haters came and he got flooded with people telling him that it was wrong to actively kill ferals. He also posted that twisted report on feral cats being the biggest non-native predator threat to birds and a few things about "ditch tiger" trapping tricks and tips. So him saying he "accidentally" gets feral cats in the article means he either lies on his social media about actively looking for ferals or he lied to the newspaper to make himself look better. He also had several posts saying he loves the attention from haters and bring it on.

He started blocking the people who made negative comments about his posts. The best step probably would have been to make his account private but he left it public and the foster groups switched tactics of contacting media and police in the area he lives.

I get that hunting isn't illegal and he is a trapper on his own property. Its the glee and joy he has on his social media about "accidentally" trapping ferals and then saying how he is actually doing a good thing by doing so. He says in the article he encouraged his follower not to comment back and that isn't really true. He might have said it to say it but he blocked and deleted the cat lovers while leaving the hunter comments alone. He also kept posting things encouraging backlash and how much he loved the attention. Right up until it started going viral and the cat lovers started really going after his social media.

In this case, he taunted the cat lovers and asked them to bring it .... and they did. Now he is crying to the media about the storm he caused.

So he's a narcissist and an animal abuser? Seems to me that a psychiatrist could have a lot of fun with him. People like him worry me, especially if he has kids, with his gene pool.

I restate my frontal lobotomy offer.

This is interesting to me because I got REALLY upset last Friday night.

I just finished my doctorate and I teach every night but Friday.  On Fridays I drive about 150 miles checking on my feral colonies.  For the last twelve years I've worked in property management, and at present I'm a Regional Manager for a large property management company in Florida.

I have several established feral colonies on the properties in my portfolio.  Last Friday I was checking on a particular colony at one of our roughest properties.  I was actually feeding the cats at feeding stations I've got set up W A A A A Y Y Y away from the building when an older Hispanic  guy, probably 45 to 50, came riding through on his bike screaming at my cats, "Get away! Get Away! Shoo! Shoo!"  Then he saw me and started cursing at me, claiming he had asthma and my "pets" were causing trouble.  (His English wasn't very good.)  I tried to explain to him what I was doing but he paid no attention and rode off.  About ten minutes later he came back with a bb gun and started shooting at my cats!!!!

I went absolutely berserk.  I should have recorded him but I was so angry I didn't think of it.  My goal was to stop him.

So long story short, I screamed at him and said some choice things that I shouldn't have.

I followed him back to his apartment so I knew which unit he lived in, and then I drove to the closest Kinkos, drafted a Seven Day Notice to Vacate with No Opportunity to Cure, drove back to the property and served him in person.  He kept telling me that the manager of the apartments was his friend and that I could get lost, so I told him that I was the manager's boss's boss and that he had seven days to get the hell out.  I had clear grounds for the Seven Day because our lease clearly states that any type of animal abuse is grounds for such.

I don't mean to hijack this thread; it's just that I cannot, for the life of me, understand IDIOTS like the one in the WaPo article and the one on my property.  To my mind, it's nothing short of evil.

Lavish, you didn't hijack the thread, you just provided some good news! I would have loved to have been there to see his face! If your gonna be a bear be a grizzly!!!! I just love paybacks.... just be careful....crazy is as crazy does and he did have access to a gun! PHD and a set...wow! Good for you and all those kitty's. This is better than the highway patrol sitting on the side road as your passed on a hill in the yellow by that speed demon!

Indy, I would bet you would never know unless someone happened to see him! I would worry about what he would do next if that ego was not fed enough!

You know when I worked with the public I built what I called the "helmet of stupidity ". I took an old fire helmet and fastened a light socket with bulb on the top. When I had someone in the office like these guys I would yell across my desk "get me the helmet "!

Where do you think?
Yeah these nutcases soon are no longer satisfied with killing animals. He probably is a wife abuser if he even has one. I also wouldn't past him to abuse children.

I completed a police report and agreed to testify in court.  I'm not one to wish bad things on folks, but I can tell you unabashedly that I will testify with GLEE if called.  I'm also going to hound the heck out of the detective in charge.

Sorry to say, but we are likely to hear more of this sort of thing because of a book that just came out: Cat Wars.   I've seen it at the library new book section, but can't bear to take it out.

What can you say about a guy who also authored "fifty places to drink beer before you die" and dozens of other "fifty places to ...... before you die"! The other author has written a couple of bird books. Let's see...birds as vectors of disease? Histoplasmosis, bird flu, and a host of other respiratory diseases but whose counting.... I feed birds as well as TNR colonies of cats.

Besides, the science behind this whole cat vs birds in decline has yet to be validated beyond a hypothesis. Right now it appears as many studies pro as con.

Ah, if we had only had a few more feral cats during the "Black Plague era".

Guess everybody needs a "cause" of some sort.
