Hello, So I just adopted (Like two hours ago) a 15 month old cat named Franky, His owners were getting rid of him because the older cat didn't like him. So the owner dropped him off and I set him up in my room with all the things he needs and he was pretty nice but hissed a few time understandably. But then he accidentally saw my 3 year old cat Starky, I asked if they think Franky would get along with Starky and they said yes. Anyway now when I go up to Franky he growls, Starky is fine and I am now leaving Franky alone but keeping an eye on him. I have read heaps of tips on how to introduce cats and I plan on doing that, but can someone please tell me if they will get along eventually? I don't think Starky will hurt him but I don't want Franky hurting Starky, thankyou all very much

Where do you think?
You will definitely hear some grumbling as they sort out the hierarchy. As long as there is no claws or actual fighting let them interact but only for short periods and never unsupervised.

Initaialky I would scent swap, then they will get used to each other's scent. Then start feeding in opposite sides of the door. Then introduce them initially for 10mins 3 times a day, be ready to separate them if they fight. If that goes well then gradually increase the time they spend together. Good signs are nose touching & bum sniffing. You will know by their interaction how quickly you can introduce the time together. If they start grooming each other, you've cracked it. Don't mistake a rough play fight for an actual fight. If there's no growling, hissing or spitting or ckaws out then they are play fighting. Just take it slowly & be patient.

Thankyou so much, that was really helpful! I will for sure do all of that. Frankys old owners have said that if things don't go right we can give him back but I really don't want to do that.
