advice severe stomatitis

I rescued a semi feral cat a few years ago and he was tested fiv positive. He has recently been diagnosed with stomatitis and he seems to be in agony. He is constantly drooling bloody saliva and groaning. I took him to the vets and they prescribed antibiotics which he took for a week and no improvement.they recommended removing his teeth but its expensive and I cant afford it and if I gave him up he will be euthanised. I have tried to feed him more expensive wet food and given him metacam for a week but the vet said steroid injections are not an option as it may make him worse.
I desperately want the operation for him and set up a gofundme page but doubt that will help much as I am not on social media. This is the link anyway:
