It feels like SPRING in my part of the country and it's improved my Monday outlook dramatically!
I have bulbs sprouting and fuzzy green showing on one of the maple trees.  Oh and some grass turning green too!  It's hard to believe it's February!  But this beautiful weather means my kids spent the weekend outside and most importantly; out of each others hair!  They were getting a bit stir crazy in the cold weather.  Sometimes I joke about digging us out a basement by myself.
But seriously; someplace inside but big enough to burn some energy would be amazing!!  The highlight of the weekend was DD learning to ride her bike without training wheels.  We have a small patio as the only paved place to learn but she picked it up in probably 10 minutes time and now shes zooming across the grass too.  She can be a little timid; so we were all so proud of her.

How old were you when you learned to ride a bicycle?

I think I was 7 or so before I learned to ride without training wheels.  I was on the timid side like DD.  But one weekend I remember my Mother and I met a friend of hers with her kids at a school parking lot. One of the kids had a lower bike with a banana seat (remember those?
).  I guess feeling closer to the ground made me feel more confident and I figured it out. No running behind my bike required on behalf of the adults.
DH is thankful he didn't have to do much of that this weekend either.

Wow--too long ago to remember.
I remember riding one as a kid but don't remember how old I was when I learned to ride it.

Good for DD learning so fast!  Bet she's having fun.

I can't remember how old I was either - probably 6 or 7. We didn't have training wheels. I didn't have a bike at all, but the twins next door did. We took turns coasting down a sidewalk that went slightly downhill. We fell a lot until we figured out how to balance the bike. I ran into a tree in their yard once.

I don't really remember. Pretty sure it was before I was 8 but I was a timid kid and not prone to risk-taking so probably not much younger!

I do remember "teaching" my brother how to ride without training wheels ;). I had a Japanese bike that had a kickstand that went fully under the back wheel, so you could lock the kickstand and use it as a stationary bike. My brother loved doing that. So one day we were at the park and he was pedaling on the bike, and I kicked the kickstand out from under him and off he went! He managed to keep his balance. He was mad but, well, after that he had enough confidence to ride without training wheels :lol3:. He must have been about 7.

Five or six.  Dad taught me, without training wheels.  I had them, but he took them off after a week once I had gotten the pedal and steer idea.

Around 4ish with training wheels, 6-7 without them.

A tad younger if you count the kiddy bicycle things!

Ditto, I remember my dad teaching me but not my age.  He said he would hold onto the back of the seat but let go at some point and I didn't even know.

I was 6 years old and used training wheels. I was 4 years old when I used the little kitty bikes.

That was too long ago to remember! I would say 5 or 6, no training wheels. I remember the freedom of racing down the street with the wind in your face. And the falls with their nasty scrapes on the knees and hands.  The time my sister got mad at me when I was on her handle bars and she purposely went off a tall curb and I split my tailbone, ouch!

This is kind of embarrassing, but I think I was about 12.

But that's because I didn't have a bike until then. I learnt to ride a horse before I could ride a bike.

I was in kindergarten when I learned to ride without training wheels, so I must have been 5. For some reason I remember that it was a guy who lived down the street, a father of four, who took the training wheels off, but I have no idea why he did it and not one of my parents. :lol3:

I can't remember when I did.

As for my kids, I think that my oldest was about 6 when she learned. My son started riding without training wheels at 4 years old. My youngest is almost 5 and hasn't learned yet.
