My cat is around 7 years old and I think he is a tabby cat. My cat shows absolutely no interest in playing with me. I have bought various toys from time to time (wand with strings, balls with bells) and he shows no interest in playing with them. When I try to play with strings with him he will grab it with his claws but then he starts to get annoyed almost and storms away. Am I playing incorrectly? He only seems interested in me petting him. Not running around. He is an indoor cat

Is he a recent addition to your home, or an old companion who's simply stopped (or never started) playing?  A little background information might help someone on the site suggest a possibility.

He was given to me by a friend. I have had him for probably a little over a year now and have lived in 2 apartments with him. He didn't enjoy the moving process but seems very comfortable in the new apartment. He has never been playful since the day I got him. Which doesn't bother me much because I'm not necessarily an active person either. But I have known many cats and this one just doesn't seem interested in play. The only time I see him run is when I open a can of wet food or if it's 3am and I'm dead sleep he feels the need to run over my entire body and then out the room lol idk why he does that

I have ten who do that; cats always take certain jobs seriously.

Some cats simply aren't playful; as long as he seems happy, and gets a little exercise, I'd not be too concerned.

He's seven so he's approaching middle age, meaning that he's outgrown his kitten-like playfulness. And since this is a not a sudden change from his old habits, I don't think it's anything concerning. Some cats are just less active. Adjust his food intake accordingly.
