Hello all, I recently posted a thread about what could be happening to my cat. He's been extremely itchy recently and I didn't have a clue what it was but I'm assuming it's allergies/ringworm. So I first tried out some anti-fungal spray; it made him stop itching a bit but now I'm noticing scratch marks near his ear. I just went to check him and pulled out a huge clump of his hair
Also the fur above his eye is thinning. I'm really considering taking him to the vet next week because I don't want him to be in pain but if anyone has had this problem before, could you recommend some allergy medicine I could order before going to the vet?

(He's on a limited ingredient diet.)

(His ears are spotless.)
(He gets brushed every couple days so no fleas.)

LID diets aren't really as great as they sound. LID wet foods are much, much better than the kibbles, but they still have a lot of things in them that can trigger allergies. What food are you feeding specifically? While this could be environmental allergies, it's more common for these things to be food allergies. I'd suggest trying a novel protein wet food to see if that helps.

I haven't given him anything yet because I'm a little confused by what he can and can't take. The weather has gone up about 20 degrees and he's stopped itching the past two days (not including the lump of fur that came out) but I still think I might bring him to the vet.

My two cats have been eating NB chicken and pea wet and dry food. My one cat toffee was brought up on it and takes to it very well but I'm unsure if Pumpkin may have a pea allergy. I'm going to try and switch them to another food. Do you have any suggestions?

I'd put them on a wet food with as little fillers as possible, you really can't achieve this with kibble because all kibble has way too many ingredients. Cats can develop food allergies out of no where, especially if they're eating the same food on a daily basis, which is another reason it's recommended to feed wet food and rotate both proteins and brands. I like this list of wet foods. I did look at the pics, and I think that is suspicious of a food allergy, as cats do get itchy around their ears like that with food allergies.

Not on this list but also decent is Merrick LID. This food does contain peas though.

To anyone who saw this wondering what happened, I ended up taking Pumpkin to the vet only for his office to be closed all week long. Drove 30 mins back home to then ask my neighbor who volunteers at a rescue organization and she thinks that the bump on his ear is from my two cats playing and the mark above his eye is from seasonal allergies. I'll update if anything changes or if something happens. Incase it happens to be food allergies, I'm going to switch the foods with different proteins to see if chicken or fish is what's causing him to itch.
