pretzels!!!
yummmm......soft pretzels! i think i vaguely remember the Hickory Farms sweet-hot mustard. it's been many years since i've had anything from Hickory Farms. i also really like their summer sausage.

speaking of which, i have a jar of sweet bread & butter pickles open in the fridge right now! i used about half the jar in a big batch of macaroni salad the other day, diced up. i was just thinking earlier today that it's been too long since i've made a pb and sweet bread & butter pickles sandwich.

i've never had any high quality pickles......
Shelf stable pickles are never (to me at least) crunchy. That's why I like the ones that you get in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. I like the Ba-Tampte kosher half sours. Their garlic dills are good too. http://www.batamptepickle.com/

Boar's Head makes good ones too if your local store sells their products. They just make good stuff all around though.

ahhhh, i had never really considered that! and to me, crunchiness is important in pickles. i'll check to see if my local store stocks some of these refrigerated pickles.

That's easy fro me......POPCORN! I eat it daily, sometimes in the afternoon when I am starving, mostly with the evening news, along with a caffeine free Pepsi so I'm not up all night. that can be my supper too, when I'm not very hungry or most likely ate too much all ready. Once in a while I LOVE a couple of cinnamon bears, I get a craving for them. I hope my dentist isn't reading this, she's one of them no sugar at all fanatics, but I can't imagine being happy without some, and the older I get the more I believe in being happy. What's a few extra years if you're miserable?
ahhh, yes! popcorn!!!
and popcorn is a pretty wholesome snack too, imo.

yes!!! i feel the same way.

A banana with peanut butter and almonds is a current favourite snack. I also like veggies with a homemade cottage cheese/greek yogurt dip, a handful of almonds or yogurt with berries and a little granola.
oh my!!!
that sounds really very good! really good, and healthy, favorites too -- veggies with homemade (and would be my choice too, cottage cheese/greek yogurt) dip, nuts, or yogurt with fruit and a little granola.

I remember Hickory Farms used to have honey mustard that I loved to put on soft pretzels. Kraft now makes honey mustard salad dressing that's pretty good.

I also love pickles and have a jar of bread and butter pickles I use for sandwiches. The best pickles around here is sold by BJ's. I forget the name but it's half soar pickles. They are tasty and crispy.

To get a high quality pickle I understand you have to go to New York.

I love Superpretzels! They're the best soft pretzels around. Sometimes I'll use  my sourdough starter discards to make soft pretzels. I don't have soft pretzels nearly often enough. They sure are good. And they're another P!

There's a little store down in the Frackville, PA area that makes nothing but soft pretzels and they're delicious. You can buy a whole bagful and bring them home and throw them in the freezer, then thaw and nuke them. Really nice for a snack. And there's a stall at out farmers' market on Wednesday that sells all kinds of soft pretzels....they stuff pretzel "sticks" too, with all kinds of cheese, bacon, etc. Those are decadent! I do my best to stay away from that stall, but sometimes the pretzels win.
I have made soft pretzels from scratch too. So yummy. I used to love the pretzels sold from carts in NYC. Pretzels are just great all around.

I'd have a hard time staying away from that stand too.

One time, we were at a college football game; when Graham (son) was in college, he played football, so we went to all the games. I bought a soft pretzel, one of those great big hunking pretzels. It was hard as a rock. My brother and his then-wife were with us and I think my brother spent the game smacking us with that blasted pretzel. It wouldn't break, you couldn't break off a piece and chew it, and really, as hard as it was, I wasn't going to eat the thing anyway. It became known as The Pretzel That Wouldn't Die. He kept smacking us and it would not break. A horrible pretzel....had that been during the time of cell phones, I'm sure there would have been a picture somewhere along the line. Even people who were sitting around us tried to break it. Finally this one guy managed to break a piece off and there was a huge cheer and applause from our section of the stadium. People probably wondered what the heck was going on. That's my soft pretzel story.

I love honey mustard! Great on soft pretzels, BTW.

Big pickle fan, too! When we could grow cukes in the garden, I canned bread-and-butter pickles, lime pickles, and cinnamon pickles (the cinnamon pickle recipe was given to me by Lizzie, who was a poster here on TCS at the time, a really nice lady).

We used to use Heinz and Vlasic sweet relish, but a few years ago, we thought they started getting a little skimpy on the relish and the jars seemed to be full of juice with little actual relish. Well, I found a recipe for canned zucchini relish. And, OMGosh, it is good stuff! It tastes better than regular pickle relish and it's thicker. I canned a ton of it and we put it on burgers, dogs, brats. I used it in potato salad, pasta salads, tuna salad. I gave jars away and then people called me, "Hey, have any more of that relish? I could use a couple more jars if you have them!" That's how good it is. Last year, we didn't have a garden, so I didn't get any canned and we miss it.

There was this wild hair...I made the biscuit dough thing with blackberry jam rather than brown sugar and cinnamon.  NOTE TO SELF:  This is quite tasty, but do not brush the dough with melted butter on the side you are going to spread the jam on, and use slightly LESS jam (this will be possible without the butter, 'cause you can actually spread it)
oh my!!! your biscuit dough thing......maybe like a biscuit dough bear claw or a sweet calzone......with the blackberry jam sounds like it would taste most wonderful!
hmmmm, yes......the butter would make it hard to spread the jam on one side. just a little 'logistical problem' though, a small bump in the road to yummy-ness!

i used to sometimes use phyllo dough, fill it with some canned pie filling down the middle of it, fold over the two sides and pinch together, cut a few slits on it's top, brush with egg wash and sprinkle some sugar over the top, then bake it. i also would sometimes make a more 'rustic' looking tart with those same ingredients -- just spread some filling in the center, then fold the edges over roughly around it, and bake. those were 'born' of my need to use up some boxes of phyllo dough in my freezer.

oh, man! that's one of my big 'pet peeves'! when companies start shrinking packages or skimping -- getting cheap with their products. it's also a sure thing that i'll start making my own at home.

Yes, I meant New York City. Especially the deli's. Once on one of the cooking shows they did a segment on pickles and they said that Gus's pickles were one of the best in New York City. They gave the name and phone number of the place that made them and a co-worker and I were going to order a large jar of the pickles. I forgot how much they were going to cost but it was just too expensive. P & H would have cost more than the pickles cost.

VERY like a sweet calzone.  In fact, I keep thinking "add marinara and shredded cheese to the grocery list...a bell pepper, onion, maybe pepperoni..."

I won't eat anything from a NYC cart unless it's covered. Always amazed by folks who buy food from carts that are completely open.
