My cat won't go outside

Hi all, I have an 8 year old neutered male cat, Albert. It is winter, but it's been such a mild winter. Right now its spring like, and he won't go out 

side. He normally does love the outside. Last night he went out for about 2.5 hours... but its night time, and I am not fond of him going out. at night. 

I tried to get him to go out at noon, nope.... just would rather stay in the hallway of the apartment instead. 

I am thinking that he is now starting to get to be a older cat.... right now he is curled up sleeping. 

I have another cat, that does not go outside (all white and fluffy) they are not best friends and tolerate each other. I like it, when Albert goes outside as

it gives her space too. They both have strong personalities. 

Any ideas or they just  leave it be....

I would just leave him be, as you said he is getting older and probably would rather sleep then run around outside. At 8 he is getting to be middle aged, so not a young cat anymore, but not really old yet either. A few of my cats that stay out pretty much all summer refuse to go out even on warm days in the winter because it's wet and even though the air temp is warm the ground is cold and frozen. If they want out and it's not too cold (I live in northern Alberta), I let them out, but if they don't come to the door I don't force them out. The only time I might carry them out when they don't want out is if they are fighting, I'll put the aggressor outside for a bit to calm down.

So long as he is still somewhat active and acting normal in the house and he hasn't just suddenly decided to not go out or play I wouldn't be too worried.

It would probably be safer to keep him inside anyway

Thanks so much, I live in Toronto... it's 10 degrees out today. I left him inside... I bet when I come home after dinner, he will want to go out... lol!
