Hi there!

My one year old kitty has had ringworm, tested positive for feline herpes virus, and a UTI all in the past 30 days. He has been to the vet and is getting treatment, though I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations on a diet for him so I don't have future flare ups/issues.

He is a Turkish Angora Mix, and does not have a sensitive stomach (no issues when changing food around frequently).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It might be helpful to know what you are feeding him now, then we can go from there.

He's on royal canine urinary support and maverick whole-grain salmon. Plus the occasional Instinct raw venison.

Is he prone to UTIs?  You mentioned that he has had one in the past 30 days, but how many has he had in his lifetime?  And did you just put him on the Royal Canin Urinary Support since this UTI?

I cannot find Maverick cat food when googling, also cannot find Instinct raw venison
.  I know Instinct made by Nature's Variety.  Is what you are feeding made by another brand?   Additionally, aside from the raw, are these foods you are feeding dry or wet?

Sorry! Auto correct on my phone changed Merrick to Maverick. My cat is on Merrick Salmon Grain-Free Dry food with Royal Canine Urinary Support dry food (mixed together) and also wet, raw venison (yes, it is Nature's Variety Instinct brand). He only gets the raw venison once every 10 days or so (kind of as a treat). My cat is only 11 months old and I rescued him from my local shelter about two months ago. (this is the first UTI that I, and the shelter, are aware of)

I hope this is helpful! Thank you so much for the response.

OK, well, IMHO, the best food for cats that have had UTI issues is WET food.   Do you think he's like that Merrick salmon food in wet vs dry?  And maybe you could even add a little water to it before serving.  Does he drink plenty during the day?  Does he have any reason to be stressed out...noisy kids around, other animals, that type of thing?  Stress can often lead to UTIs.  But, I have to tell you, I had a cat who started getting UTIs later in life, and our Vet never ever suggested a change in diet, (she was already eating canned food only), so I'm a little surprised that with ONE UTI they put your little guy on a urinary food
.  If he had stones or something I would completely understand, but for a simply UTI?  Did they say how long he should be on it?

So, anyway, my suggestion would be to put him on a mixture of canned foods only, ones that are good quality, high protein, low carb, and see where that takes you.  By mixture I mean different brands and different proteins, like you are doing now with the Natures Variety and the Merrick, only I'd add in a few more.  Maybe some turkey, or chicken or even lamb.
