Something wrong with cat

My cat has been drooling a lot. Her mouth seems kind of swollen and though she won't let me look inside it, when she opens it I can see that the right hand side of her mouth is really dark- -almost black around the lower side area. On top of that her breath stinks and it's really horrible smelling. Anyone know what could be wrong?

Just got back from the vet. They took a look in her mouth and found a chicken bone stuck across the roof of her mouth! They were able to take it out in 2 seconds and that was that! They said because it had been there over the weekend it did get a little infected but they gave me an antibiotic to clear that and to relax the pain. The smell was coming from her mouth because she wasn't able to swallow her salvia properly and that's where all the drool was coming from! Thanks so much everyone for your help xx

Sounds like an infection that has possibly started killing tissues. Black usually is dead tissue. The smell is coming from dead infected tissues.

Please get your cat to a vet asap infections can be fatal if untreated.

How long would this take to happen? She's with me almost every hour of the day and I've only noticed it today

Hi, yes she is permitted outdoors but prefers to be indoors most of the time and she sleeps with me too

When can you get her to a vet? It sounds urgent.

The earliest a vet opens is Monday morning, just going to have to nurse her till then

She ate some tuna today but that's all, she slept most of the day and hasn't been looking for food like she usually would, I tried giving her water but she wouldn't take it

Can't really tell if that's just her skin or not but the fact her breath smells says something is going on in her mouth and it's probably infected. It also will make it hard for her to eat so you may have to hand feed her.

If you are referring to That black part in the front that looks like her gums and they are supposed to be black there but if her breath smells she probably has an infection and needs a vet.
