Hi, Zero is having an issue where he keeps licking this spot on his back just below his shoulder blades. He's doing it until he's losing some hair there and its getting a little irritated. He may be having some kind of reaction or something there. This is just a few days after I gave him advantage for the first time, but it is far from where the advantage was put on him, (at the base of his neck).

Can I put something around that spot so he won't lick? Isn't there some kind of bitter apple stuff or something that's not bad for him, but will make him stop licking?

And what can a vet do about this? I feel as if I will go there and waste the cash and they will just be useless again.

Thanks!

I believe that advantage is a waxy substance that spreads so it's entirely possible that he's feeling "twitchy" from that. I know Gus always has a couple of days where he licks and twitches a lot after he gets dosed.

It sounds as if he may just be aggrivated by the advantage. He's probably licking the area he can reach. It can take a few days for the advantage to spread out. Once it's spread out, he should stop licking at it.

Yeah I suppose you're right about the advantage, that's probably as close to it as he can lick. I suppose I was just in denial, hoping that he wouldn't have some allergy to something I just bought a years worth of!

Also, its been a few days and he's still licking there a little. We're going to look into getting some of the bitter apple stuff to put around the area so he won't lick there.
