Two days ago our 1.5 y/o orange tabby (male) was playing on the carpet, then started crying and tried to stand up. One of his back legs was completely straight for a few seconds, then he proceeded to whine and limp on that leg. We picked him up and looked at his foot/toes, and he let us touch the leg with no complaints. He walked off as if nothing happened.

Fast forward to Friday, I work at home and he likes to sleep under my desk in a fabric box. I hear him start to whine and mewl and see his front legs are straightened and then he slinks off the box and is limping. He was sleeping with them folded under him, like most cats do. I quickly picked him up and inspected his paws and lightly squeezed and massaged his legs with again no complaints from him, and I noticed nothing wrong with his paws (like if he stepped on something).

Waffles just had his yearly exam a month ago, and 2 weeks ago had a dental cleaning (under anesthesia), we got blood work done prior to him being put under and everything was perfect. He is eating/drinking as normal, and after I set him down this afternoon, he stretched out his front paws-downward dog style and seemed to be completely unaffected by what just happened.

I was going to call the vet and ask about this, but wanted to check to see if any other cat owners have seen this in their cats?

Waffles is indoor only, eats wet food in the morning and free feeds on kibble, and drinks plenty of water. He's been jumping on and off my desk after this happened just fine. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

So sorry you've had no response up until now.  AND, unfortunately, I don't have any thoughts as to what this might be.  Very strange, though.  I honestly can't say that I recall ever reading anything like this before.  Seems like it could be from some sort of vitamin or mineral deficiency, but since you just had his bloodwork done and it was spot on, that really doesn't seem like it's the culprit
.  I'd definitely give your Vet a call and tell them what's happening and get their take on it.

Hopefully it's nothing serious

Keep us posted.

Thank you.  It seems to have slowed down to only happening when he has slept for long periods of time, like in bed with us at night. Since he is acting/eating/playing as normal, we are waiting until regular business hours to contact the vet and perhaps take him in.
