Question of the Day, Friday, February 17

Good morning! :wavey: And Happy Friday! I'm taking a vacation day today, so I don't have to go back into work until next Wednesday. Nice!

We have a stainless refrigerator, so no magnets will stick to the front of the fridge. Our fridge is bare. My question for you this morning is: What's on your fridge? Favorite pictures? Any special magnets? Your children's or grandchildren's artwork? What is your fridge "wearing"?

I do have some magnets on mine but most of them are on the sides. I keep take out menus under them. :lol3:

I have an old business card of DH's on the front that he put there when his boss finally made some for him. It always goes back up after the fridge gets a wipe down.

I do still have a LOT of DD's old artwork but not on the fridge. They are stored in what I call the time capsule cabinet. It's in the kitchen to the lower left of the fridge. I don't use it and opened it one day to find coloring books, and a big box full of crayons, little toys, etc from when DD was in elementary school.

I'm not nuts about things on the fridge. Up until last year, I never had anything on ours.

Now there are 3 things- one of those black and white photo strips of Tom and I taken in a photo booth at my niece's 16th birthday party.  I really like the way we look in all the pictures, they capture the fun side of us.

Then, the magnet holding that photo which is from my HVAC company.

Last another magnet, which from our vet.  Both magnets are good to keep handy for Tom if I'm not around and something happens that he needs the numbers fast - since I'm sure he doesn't remember the names of either of them LOL

I have pictures of my cats and my nephews and their family and some paper work I don' want to lose. The magnets I use are ones I got from my vet.

I have a plastic carrier thing on the side of my fridge that I keep menus, receipts and business cards in.

A calendar from Alley Cats, 3 pot holders, a takeout menu and three handmade fridge magnets by a friend of mine

too much junk on my refrigerator.. all of it is Arties.. magnets from Vets, appointment cards, reminders, etc...

oh, and I have a couple of magnetic towel holders.. I found them years ago, and I cannot part with them..

Too much to mention, lol.  I always try to tidy up the magnets on the fridge but somehow they reappear.

Emergency nos. at the top including vet & specialty vet, picture magnets that my kids made at school when they were younger, lots of pet pics, calendar magnet, nearby med. clinic, and a very special magnet made for me by one of my students who passed away too young.

I have a New Years picture greeting from my daughter with all their pictures and a magnet that says " Gardening forever, housework whenever", my creed. Everytime I go to my mother's I truly cringe, you can't even see a surface, I have no idea what color her fridge is!  This is BEYOND trashy. When she moved into her new apartment I thought we had that whipped, but less than 6 months later and it's back! Oh well, it's her apartment.

Hopefully this won't surprise anyone so greatly that it causes cardiac arrest.  I have (get ready; sit down if you're standing) pictures of the cats - both present and past.  Hard to believe, of course, but true nonetheless.

;)

I have pictures of my grandson, a birthday card one son sent, extra magnets, and extra bag clip magnets. Just covers the freezer door.

Pictures of cats--who would have guessed?!  :lol3:

We're in the same boat as you, @Winchester  Stainless steel fridge and magnets won't stick.  There's nothing on the front of my fridge but fingerprints.  bluelaugh.gif

We have 6 magnets - 3 cat/quote type ones, and 3 really cute French ones I got as part of a Christmas present from a friend heartpump.gif
post #13 of 32

The side of my fridge is covered in pictures.  Mostly the ones friends and family send at Christmas.  There are some older photos of my friends and graduation pictures or ones I'm just not ready to swap out, etc. I even have a picture of 2 of my best friends from high school and I at our senior prom.  I love that side of my fridge.  It's nice having those where I can see them regularly.  When I get new ones to change out its so sweet to see how kids have grown.  Company always stops to look.

The front of the fridge is a happy mess.  There are comics, more pictures, magnets, a timer magnet, artwork from my kids.  A random recipe I didn't want to lose, some of DS's schoolwork.  And more magnets!  Alphabet magnets too.  The ones toward the top are nicer though. I have one that was a gift from another TCSer, a few from my childhood and most recently a set a friend and former TCSer sells in her Etsy shop that she custom painted to look like Mooch and Noodles.  Every time I try to clear it off I end up putting 75% of the stuff back.  Only the kids papers rotate it seems.  They get so proud to have their special things up there.  Good thing clutter doesn't bother me much. ;)

My food log, my workout calendar, weekly planner, some coupons, babysitting schedule and some magnets on the front. The side has a list of all food in my freezer, random receipts, coupons, bills and a monthly calendar. On top is cereal, protein powder, olive oil and vegetable oil.

All photos of my cats-past and present.  A few photos of my mom and dad. Tons of unique magnets. One is a piano that plays but the battery is dead- another is a boom box..dead battery.. One that says I made a Wish and you came true when I first got with Jon. I don't have anything other than pics of my sisters kids and the cats. One sheet I used packing tape to cover it so the photos don't run from the water spots. Some photos I need to reprint as they have gotten ruined from water. I just don't have the heart to throw them away. They are on a hard drive that I never got a chance to upload to my present computer. I don't even know where I put it now that I think about it. I don't like bare refrigerator doors. I like seeing what people have for their photos and other mementos on there.

Oh, you are so NEAT!!  Here is mine.  Everything is above the "spray line," and under the spray line it is covered with contact paper (the old kind that actually sticks, not the new kind that falls off) to protect against corrosive cat pee.  This fridge was here when I moved here 14 years ago and is still running just fine.

True - I am fanatically neat & tidy.

A series of magnets from PCH with cooking tips on them on the freezer door, along with a homemade magnet of Hekitty, and on the side a printed sheet with my go-to recipes on it.

I really dislike fridges with stuff all over them, but I do have a few of the New Yorker's Rejection Collection cartoons---most are too twisted to describe here! Visitors always love them! Their fave: a man has his head inside an oven. His wife comes into the kitchen:"Almost finished over there, Mr. Happy? I have to get my casserole in."

I also have a cover of a Duluth Trading catalog on the fridge:

It's the cover there, about the space program.  I love their catalogs ; they have a quirky sense of humor. DH loves their boxer shorts.

i don't have overly much on my fridge.

on the front:  i have probably 12 or so magnets, a few really nice 3-dimentional ones and the rest are flat ones for things like the vet's, cat medical supply websites, and repairmen (plumbers, electrician, and etc). i've got an important phone numbers printed on paper too -- apple support. i've got the date of this years firewood deliveries on paper on the fridge. there's the trash/recycling pick up schedule on the card they sent out, the 2017 calendar i printed from Call Me Victorian (http://callmevictorian.com/1957/free-2017-printable-calendar-paris-edition/) -- this eiffel tower calendar is so popular that they offer it every year there, and i've still got the pre-dental surgery papers from the vet's for Dude up there...anon.gif (he had dental surgery last june).

on one side: a couple of large pink kitchenaid magnetic chip clips, one of which has a sheet of paper it's holding that has my list of jams/jellies/preserves/sauces with their color coding stickers next to them -- i don't label the jars, just use color coded stickers on them.

on top of the fridge:  a rectangular plastic container with lid that contains mini pretzels, 3 more empty containers of the same size/dimensions, a small plastic colander -- empty, and the square 5-cup container with lid which has my cream of wheat in it.

I used to have a little more on mine, but it was driving me crazy, so I finally cleaned it up a bit a few months ago. I moved a lot of spare magnets to the side.
Here's the front now. Years ago, I had a poetry magnet calendar, & I saved the blank bottom of it w/ all the words. It's fun. I mostly keep it as is right now, unless I think of something else to add to it, or change. My vets card, magnets, & some sayings I cut out. Oh, & a bumper sticker my friend gave me a couple of yrs ago that says "Angels are often disguised as cats." So I have Angels picture above it in a magnet frame thing I found at a pottery store. smile.gif
Oh, & "hiding" behind the mat board is a basket w/ incence in it, & the other side is a small 3 drawer organizer w/ pencil sharpener, small stapler, sticky pads, etc... In it. I want to find something else to hide that stuff, or just a bigger single piece of poster board. The dried flowers are hydrangeas from my mom's yard.

Ours is pretty neat - there's a shopping list, a dental appointment card, and a note with our cell phone numbers in case of emergencies.

Mine has a cat on top.

@Norachan Gorgeous! Oh, my, just gorgeous! He or she looks very regal up there.

When Ms. Pepe was a very young kitty, she loved napping on top of our fridge. She spent so much time up there that I bought her a nice big dog pillow and stuck it up there, just for her. She was the Queen of the Fridge Top. :lol3:

I like seeing your refrigerators! In a way, they're a reflection of you and those things that you enjoy seeing.

I rather miss all of our fridge magnets. We used to have magnetized words on the front of our fridge as well as a set of cat-related words, and people were constantly making new sentences. I'd be making dinner and people would be standing at the fridge making sentences! :lol3: There were cat magnets, little flower magnets, etc. I had a picture of the Obamas and the Bidens that was taken at their first inauguration ceremony; the picture was sent as a Thank You for working on the campaign. I still have the picture in my desk. My mother had some early pictures of her and my father turned into magnets and they were on the fridge, too.

Thank you. hugs.gif

His name is Forest, he was my lucky find. This thread tells the story of how he came to live with us.

 Found Another One. (sigh)

Here's another picture of him on the fridge just after his annual hair cut.

Norachan, he is just gorgeous. So you've had him about two years now. Comparing the pictures of then and now, he really has come into his own, so to speak. He is beautiful.

Wow, he really is beautiful!!  I just want to give him a BIG hug & kiss!  I just read through the thread when you found him. He is lucky to have been picked up by you. I'd never heard of the Chinchilla breed before, but he does look just like the cats in those pictures. He is just SO gorgeous!  I love those big boys, make me miss Angel, although he was not quite that big.  Angel usually stayed around 14lbs,  how much does Forest weigh now?

Thank you. Yes, he's been with us just over 2 years now. He'll be having his 3rd Gotcha Day this September.

He's now 6.8 kilos, just under 15lbs. He's not fat at all, just a very big cat. It's sad to think he was only 2.6 kilos when we found him. Poor guy must have been starving.

He'd love a big hug and a kiss. He's very affectionate.
