Just wondering if anybody here has ever experienced this?   I am switching vets because I am tired of that attitude toward my Himalayan cats.  It's obvious she does not want to treat them because they are so sensitive and high maintenance (her words).  I get the distinct impression that she dislikes purebred animals.  I know about all the rescue vs. breeders controversy, etc. and I assume that's where her attitude is coming from.  But that doesn't change the fact that I am a paying client with cats that I love dearly.  I think it is her responsibility to show some compassion toward them, no matter where they came from.

When you encounter service of any type - and especially professional services - which fail to meet reasonable standards for the profession, vote with your feet.  The client - Vet relationship is more important to your cats' welfare than any other aspect of their care.

We have had good luck with 3 vets in our area. No prejudice just friendly vets.

I would certainly be hesitant to take my cats to a vet who did not like them.  I have one purebred, a Siberian, and they just love him at my vets.  Of course, the vet has Ragdolls herself.  The fact that she has purebred cats makes her more knowledgeable about them and more receptive to my needs.  Her head vet tech truly loves my Siberian and says she gets excited when she knows I am bringing him in.  It makes a difference.  I am very happy with my vet.

Some of our cats have been purebred but we adopted them.  Therefore, it's possible to rescue a cat and still have it be a purebred.  We've been very fortunate to work with vets who treat our cats professionally.  You deserve the same respect.

I won't go into all the details, but I have always considered the way I got my cats to be a rescue.  There was a breeder involved but it was much more complicated than a shopping trip for cats.  I know if I had not brought them home they probably would have been gone from this world a long time ago.

I completely understand.  Your cats are very fortunate you found them in time.
I hope you have better luck finding a vet who doesn't have the same prejudice as your current one.

Hello furrypurry,
You don't owe this vet a living. Find another vet that has a heart for animals they care for rather than making remarks like this.

Exactly.  I told my husband last night she might as well have been treating two bricks on that table instead of two cats.

Yea, I just don't understand why sometimes some people end up in a profession in which there is no calling at all

Hope you find a better vet for your babies ;)
