Our siamese mix, Daisy, is at the vet for the second night tonight getting fluids and anti-nausea meds.

A couple weeks ago, my Mom was visiting, and she let Daisy out by mistake. Not a huge deal-- our cats don't go out, but Daisy only stopped right outside the door to munch on some plants. We brought her back in within 5 minutes. BUT since then, she's been yowling (siamese yowling) to go out. Like, ALL DAY. So we took her to the vet to see if it was regular siamese behavior, or something like hyperthyroid (her thyroid levels we borderline high in October). Her levels we slightly higher than normal, and she had lost weight, so the vet put her on a low dose of tapazole once a day. We tried that, and after a week she seemed to calm down slightly, but not much. The vet recommended we up it to twice a day (2.5 mg twice a day). We did that on Sunday, and by Monday she started puking multiple times day or night. She'd either puke up her just-eaten food, OR throw up bile. By Tuesday she was puking bile like 10 times a day, and not eating, so Wednesday we called and took her to the vet.

Our first thought was it could be the tapazole making her sick. She's always puked up hairballs once a week or so, but especially in the past couple weeks she's puked more often (maybe 3-4 times a week). The vet took her off the tapazole Wednesday, took blood, and gave her fluids/anti-nausea meds. She lost more weight, so the vet was really concerned it could be metabolic like liver or kidney problems.

Bloodwork was FINE. Her liver enzyme was only slightly elevated. Physical exam, fine. She at overnight at the vet, and but threw up twice at the vet today-- both times only bile. The vet is going to do an ultrasound tomorrow so she's spending the night again tonight.

I think it could just be that her stomach is still off from the medication (or chewing on some weird plant outside). But if that's the case, the vet thinks she should feel better already. She's getting fluids and feeling much better, eating, etc. I wonder if it could be food sensitivity-- but would that cause her to throw up just bile? Of course we are worriers, so we're thinking the worst-- lymphoma, cancer etc.

She's 10 and otherwise has always been a healthy, if not high-strung, siamese rescue. She has so much character! The house is so quiet without her!

Any ideas what this could be?

Have they done an x-ray to rule out blockage or possibly impacted bowels?
