I mentioned in the Name Three Things thread that we both took vacation days today, so that we could attend Rick's cousin's viewing and service. I was in the shower this morning and Rick came in, telling me that the obit in the paper says the service is Friday, not today. Jumped out of the shower and called my GF, Rick's cousin's daughter. She was wrong and the service is Friday. (And really, I can understand....her dad just died, she was there when he died, and she is not in a good place right now. She apologized profusely and I kept saying, "Sweetie, it's OK! It's OK! I just needed to know the right day! It's OK!")
I made it into work, only five minutes late. And when you consider that I was in the shower at 7:30 and into work at 8:05 this morning, I was flying around the house! Making coffee, packing up a few pretzels, grabbing a diet Mt Dew, trying to towel off, trying to dry my hair, trying to throw on clothes. Rick said it was.....interesting....watching me get everything done. It takes us about ten minutes to get into town; I bet it made it in five....pedal to the floor the whole way. Thank god there were no cops around.
Rick is still at home; he's taking a half-day now since he's already way late for his work and will take another half-day tomorrow for the viewing. Since I'm at work now today, I'll just take a vacation day tomorrow (which, incidentally, gives me a 4-day weekend!
, since I have Monday off for Presidents' Day). So it worked out in the long run.
But I want to tell you, it was a very hectic 35 minutes this morning! I went from la-di-da in the shower to Holy Crap! and whoosh!
