Hi, my name is Maria I'm new to this site and just joined about 10 minutes ago . I have a younger cat named Allison who has become the apple of my eye ever since I got her when she was a kitten . One problem . Allison is mean . I know its normal for cats of younger ages to be high sprung, and ruthless but its not normal with her . Whenever shes in a good mood ill gently pet her back and stuff and she'll swipe at me or just walk off wait a little bit then come back to whatever she was doing . She doesn't want to be petted . She doesn't want to be held . She doesn't want to be touched . She doesn't want to be loved . This cat does NOT like affection . The only time she is EVER nice to anyone is when its her time of month and then shes all over everyone and will let you just do whatever to her . Im afraid if when we get her fixed ill never know what loving my cat is like again . I feed her regularly, make sure she has water, give her treats occasionally, ill even open the window in 30 degree weather just to give her some fresh air . I feel as if she would have a better attitude if she was regularly going outside but I can't let her until shes fixed in which we don't have the money to do at this time . Everybody that comes over steers clear from her calling her the "pyscho" cat because she'll attack whatever whenever for no reason . She will run up and swipe at anything . She will attack anything in her path . And she's always doing this thing where she'll look up and around in the room as if shes watching something fly around and nothing is there . Shes done this ever since we've had her and I've always told my mom I think shes schizophrenic but I don't even know if thats possible ! She does mean things intentionally to me as if she wants revenge . She'll wait until bed time and run around my room knocking things off the dressers into the floor preceding to knock the noisest objects back and forth until I get up and put them away because she knows I can't go to sleep bothered . Her main target is cups full of liquid . She will turn around look at me and proceed to knock full glasses of drinks onto my bed, floor, etc. I don't know why she does this but she is MEAN ! She will attack me when I least expect it and not in the playful matter either . She's constantly roaming the house looking like shes ready to kill someone . I just can't figure out why shes so hateful and never loving . What can I do to change this ? Someone guide me in the right direction .

She needs to be spayed. She is currently driven only by her hormones and sounds uncomfortable and unhappy.

Call around to the local pet shelters and rescue organizations. Shelters sometimes have low-cost spay/neuter programs that will cut the cost of the surgery significantly. Pet stores will sometimes have information about these programs.

After you get her spayed, get some wand-type toys and play with her to work off some of that energy. When she gets tired, just barely touch her around the neck until she isn't afraid of you and lets you do that. Then scratch her around the neck and under the chin. Slowly, over time, she will realize this is affection and will become more loving. My Mingo was a lot like Aliison, and now he is a very affectionate cat.

She is knocking things off tables, etc., because she is bored and wants attention. That's why you need to play with her. Just don't let her get close enough to you to swat your hand or bite it. There are quite a few videos on YouTube featuring Jackson Galaxy who treats cats like this a lot and he has a great deal of success with them. Try looking them up and watching them for more help.

Hi. I responded in your other thread, but your cat really needs to be spayed. She is unhappy and uncomfortable now.

Can you do that?
