Hello everyone, I wanted to get some advice on what could be happening with my cat, Pumpkin. He gets extremely itchy in the winter and I panicked trying to find the cause of all this (it's been ongoing since December). Today I noticed that he has a very tiny (almost pimple-sized) bump on the outside of his ear (it's not a hematoma) It doesn't seem to bother him at all. Also he's been scratching below his ear and above his eye an awful lot lately. To the point that he was bleeding a bit.  He also has really bad dandruff. I inspect his fur quite a lot since all I've seen is that it could be fleas. I have four pets and check all their fur regularly and they do get treated with flea and tick repellent. I vacuum a lot, have put out flea traps and used anti-flea sprays. Came back with nothing. My next thought was their food. I switched every pet to limited ingredient food. Still itching. I have just ordered some allergy spray and shampoo off of Chewy so I will be testing that soon. The only other thought I had could be ringworm, but I'm not entirely sure. OH and his ears are spotless so no mites. All of my pets have dandruff and I wasn't sure what else it could be other than allergies. If this problem continues I will be taking him to my vet but for the time being, does anyone have any suggestions? (The second picture is of the outside of my cat and the third is near his ear.)

First I'd like to say, what a handsome sweet boy you have.  I love his coat, beautiful.

Have you noticed any growth with the pimple?  Could be a insect bite.  The inside of his ears look nice and clean.

I would keep an eye on it for a day or two, if he's still bothered by it, the VET is always the best option.

There are other members with experience who will chime in with advice for you and your sweet boy.

How old is Pumpkin.  Something about his face reminds me of my boy Simon who passed last June.

I hope he feels better soon.  Wish I was more help.

Aw, thank you so much! Pumpkin is three years old (I took in his mother when she gave birth to him and five other kittens).

And no, I just noticed it today. I have seen this in the past but it's gone away after like a day or two.

Thank you for your help! I think I'm more concerned with the constant itching under the ear part.

I checked his ears before and he has no signs of even wax.

The bump has gone down a bit today but I swabbed a q-tip on the scratching areas with "Veterinary Formula Clinical Care : Antiseptic & Anti-fungal Spray".

I think more than likely it is allergies considering he has such dry skin.

In the summer he's usually fine :)

For now, I'm just going to monitor it and if it gets worse I'll have to take him to the vet.

He's beautiful!  What fantastic eyes he has and I love his coloring.  My cats have had small bumps similar to that and I daresay I have too.  On me it was an ingrown hair.  On Atticus, my grey male tabby, I just assumed it was a pimple drying up.  It resolved itself within a few days.

You might consider giving Mr. Pumpkin some omega oils or even some coconut oil.  That would most likely help with the itchy dandruff.  My friend's sleek, all-black cat Hexbag struggled with itchy dandruff until a groomer suggested T Gel by Neutrogena.  My friend swears by it but I'd still check with my personal vet.

I hope Pumpkin gets some relief soon.  You're a great cat mom!

That made me "aww" out loud lol!

But thank you so much!

And I actually give all my pets little coconut paw massages to help them from drying out.

So far, the anti-fungal spray is helping him LOADS!

He hasn't itched once today

To anyone wondering what happened, I ended up taking him to the vet (30 mins away) which ended up being closed for a week so we drove 30 mins back home. I decided to ask my neighbor who volunteers at a rescue organization to check my cat. She said that the bump on his ear is probably from my two cats playing and that the scratch is more than likely seasonal allergies. If it gets any worse or if something changes I'll update everyone.

I was actually wondering.  I'm glad it's nothing serious.

Pumpkin is very sweet you really should post more pictures of him if you're up for it.  I know members would love to see this cute sweet face.

You can also give him a proper introduction in the New Cats On The Block section.  The Cats Eyes and Sleeping Cats threads are also very addicting. LOL

Best to you and your sweetheart.  Thanks for the update.
