Aloha everyone I have been taking care of a stray...and well the inevitable happened aside from my best efforts to make sure my indoor cats would not get any fleas and well...I have pulled one off of Prince and I saw one on Duchess...tried to grab it to no avail...I normally use capstar but would love to hear some suggestions on a store bought topical treatment...in Hawaii we used one but I do not remember name...and I might as well deworm the stray I've been taking care of...so a suggestion for store bought dewormer would also be greatly appreciated...thank you kindly

I don't know shop brands in the US but you could phone your vet and try to persuade them to let you buy some prescription medicines for you to collect from reception, or even see if they'll post them to you.  I know in the UK that shop bought preparations are usually rubbish and work out more expensive in the long run as you need to administer them repeatedly.  I also know vets in the UK are more than happy to by-pass expensive in-practice consultations and sell worm & flea medicine.  I see no reason why the US should be any different.

But, some general advice:

Vacuum your entire house and empty the bag thoroughly outside.  You might have to do this on several occasions as the egg, flea, cat, worm, flea, egg cycle takes a while to run through.  I had an infestation of clothes moths, whose larvae was eating me through house and home.  I washed everything on a 60 degree cycle, and delicates went in the freezer.  I think you can kill off pesky fleas larvae in the same manner.  Get a flea comb and systematically pick off fleas and crush them whilst still on the comb, if you use some paper towel you can cover a greater area of the comb's teeth, which increases your chances of squishing the blighters before they hop away.  And/or have a bowl of soapy water handy to drown them.  Lavender is an excellent anti-parasitic and insecticide, is safe for use around cats, and I think it smells delightful (but not everyone does).  Mix the essential oil with water and spray your carpets and cat beds.

Good luck

Aloha thank you...where I live in the states what you said about vet is no go! I don't have an infestation...like I said I found one on each and Prince just went to vet and got an examination she checked his coat and didn't see anything...flea was found 4 days ago...his vet apt was like 10 days ago...
That's why I prefaced my headline with home remedy not vet...as far as lavender oil...I love it my hubby not so much but great idea to check out...I thinking of possibly setting off a fogger to help but idk as that's highly chemical....I may purchase some diamatious (sp) earth for around outside...thank you for your input much appreciated

@imjustacatmom  this is another site with homemade flea control ideas, most notably a spray for your cat made from 50:50 apple cider vinegar to water, which would be dead easy to make.  ACV has literally dozens of other uses around the home, so it wouldn't go to waste.  I use it on my hair in a 2:1 water (or rose water) to acv mix, it makes my hair super shiny and has improved its condition dramatically.   So, the flea spray would no doubt condition your cats hair into the bargain.  ACV can also be used for many other skincare concerns, and healthcare/medical matters, as well as a whole heap of house cleaning chores.  For example, bicarb of soda and acv will unclog plugholes & drains.  Just a thought

If the infestation is so small I myself would just hand comb them, and clean the bedding and carpets frequently and well. If your cats eat rabbits or mice at all make sure you get a wormer that kills tapeworms, most don't. I use Profender which I get at PetMeds or DrsFoster&Smith on the internet  You need a vets Ok the first time but they are topical and you apply it high up on the back of the neck. It kills all worms, and is the only way I can worm my ferals and one very picky house cat, I only get one shot and they are out of there! I buy Drontal for the rest to worm,  I can sneak it in a treat for them.  I like Advantage 11 for fleas it can be purchased without a prescription. They both are pricey, but worth it because they actually work, and still cheaper then buying them at the vets!

In my country the vet offices sell Frontline upon request (no vet consultation required, just ask). It proved very effective on my cat. No fleas after one dose, even after 3 months.

Some OTC (few plant-based) are of very low efficiency, although smartly marketed.  Could be the same in other countries, too.

Drontal and Frontline Spot-on drops are both good otc drops for fleas and Panacur is good for worms.  I was just trying to offer alternatives as I knew others would make these suggestions.

I've been taking garcinia cambogia for weight loss (and additional supposed mental alertness) for almost 3 months.  However, I went on a strict diet and exercised (ashamedly, for the 1st time in my life) and lost 2 stone anyhow.  I'm now 8st 5lbs and intend to keep it that way...  So, the jury's out as to whether garcinia cambogia's claims hold true.  I've almost finished my supply and won't be buying any more.  It's cheap enough though, so you might as well try it.

Green tea is good for weight loss, as are raspberries.

And fennel, or fennel tea, is an appetite suppressant.

Good luck

So there ate actually 2 types of Garcinia to take...and it is ever so important to get right one...we learned that about 3 years ago...there is Garcinia for weight loss and then garcinia for weight management...the weight management one did not work for us but the weight loss one did...this new deal going around is ACV tea with garcinia combined...Melissa McCarthy did this and according to her she she'd tons of pounds...I'm only looking to losee about 12-15...
Thank you so much for you're input I greatly appreciate it and I do apologize ifor I came off unappreciative...I was just saying...I prefer if ppl did not tell me to go to my vet...as I'm not gonna pay those outrageous prices

It's not that I've gone all natural by any stretch of the imagination, I'm a firm believer in pharmaceutical (and experimental) medicine as well as herbal medicine.  I use both, depending on which is more appropriate and effective at any given time.  The majority of pharmaceuticals were derived from plant sources; for example, aspirin's active ingredient, salicylate, was initially  derived from salicin, which comes from the bark of willow trees.   It has now been chemically synthesised.  And peppermint oil is an over-the-counter, or doctor prescribed, medicine for indigestion and irritable bowel syndrome, there's no need to synthesise it as it's perfect as it is.  I'm interested in purely chemically derived pharmaceuticals too, I wish I was a chemist or pharmacist and understood elements and atoms better, but unfortunately I'm not.  I like to keep up with both new medical research and old folklore medicine.  I have many and varied interests; I am, in fact, an oddball loony
It's best to own up to these things from the beginning, teehee
