Good morning all!

My Bruce is the sweetest cat you can imagine, and you can pet him indefinitely, and he just delights in it.

But when it comes to play time the only words I can find to describe Bruce is wild and crazy. He gets so excited and crazy that he loses all common sense. He jumps from heights and crashes into everything. He slides in the wooden floors constantly and does not apply brakes!

I'm always terrified he will hurt himself.

Are all teenagers crazy like that?

Yes, and I call them the 'cat crazies'. Even my almost 16 year old has them once in a while, but much more tuned down. I think it depends on the cats personality to see how wild they can get.  I have one little boy that slides across the floor, crashing into anything in his way, and has all the other cats scrambling for cover when he takes off like a rocket, squealing. They jump up on furniture, leaping to the next piece, and will also leap on any other unsuspecting cat walking by and causing a rolling, fur flying catastrophe.   I think the energy builds up and they just have to let it go.  It's fun to watch my Casper fly across the yard and leaping onto a tree, looking like a monkey!

Oh believe me, when he is like that we laugh our heads off. But I'm always afraid he will hurt himself.

Yesterday he was chasing a toy and crashed into one of the living room chairs. He yelped really loud and ran for his hidding hole! I checked him from head to toe and he didn't seem hurt.

He quieted down for half an hour and was back to his silly self, crashing into everything soon after!

How old is he?  I'm sure you've said but I forget.  Dudley doesn't get too many "zoomies" because he's a very laid-back ragdoll.  But when he does suddenly decide to thunder down the corridor at full speed, then leap onto the table and slide off with the table cloth, the whole flat shakes as he's so big and heavy-footed.  Bruce looks agile and graceful though.  He looks a touch oriental to me.

Bruce is 8 months old. And he has these crazy spells at least twice in the evening. More if we play with him, either with a ribbon (which we hide afterward) or with one of his mice.

Give him a brown paper bag, roll a ball into it. He will have fun playing alone. These are great times to share with Bruce. Enjoy

He has toys and he plays a lot, with us and alone. As I mentioned my only question is that he hurts himself while doing it.

Did anyone experience this? A cat so crazy he hurt himself while in crazy mode?!

My cat is like that sometimes. When I throw a ball to my cat she will sprint like mad and usually "loses her brakes" and crash into the nearest wall. She's also capable of throwing herself from high places to chase moths (she forgets she's not able to fly!).

Late at night I can hear her pitter-patter of her paws, the sound of the ball being thrown around and eventually... the knocking sound of her head against the furniture. She never showed signs of getting seriously hurt, though.
